Self improvementGoal Setting

To achieve heights, it is necessary to analyze personal achievements at the end of the year

The end of the year is the time for summing up the results. We all have ups and downs. Of course, it is more pleasant to remember the first.

But, as one scientific research shows, a person becomes happier when he learns from his mistakes lessons so that in the future they can not be repeated. And suppressing bad memories will not bring happiness.

Experiment

In a study published in the journal Memory, it was proved that when a person analyzes problems that hamper the achievement of the goal, in the future he will be much happier.

His self-esteem, working efficiency will grow and a sense of the meaning of life will appear. If you perceive the problem simply as a negative event, it will only lead to depression and apathy. To such conclusions scientists came after testing on the participants of the control group.

For some, such results may seem surprising. After all, it is quite logical that positive emotions arise when remembering good events. And problems should cause only a negative. However, the analysis of the written responses of the participants in the experiment revealed a different outcome. When they remembered how they solved the problem, showing persistence and analytical abilities, their mood improved. That is, looking back at the difficulties that brought last year, they knew for sure that they could easily overcome them in a new one. Thus, past problems were perceived by them not as negative memories, but as achievements.
