Thibaut Courtois is a Belgian footballer who was born in 1992, on May 11th. He is considered one of the most promising young goalkeepers, and this really can be considered true. Well, it's worth telling about his career and about what awards the young goalkeeper has already managed to get.

early years

Thibaut Courtois was born in the city of Bre. Strictly speaking, there he started his football career. In five years the boy went to the academy at the club "Bilsen". In this youth team, the young football player played almost three years - until the moment when he did not have to move to Genk. There he left with his family when he was eight. There he went to the FC "Genk", where he took the position of the left defender. For ten years, Thibaut played in the youth team. By the way, he pretty long took the position of the defender. However, later he switched to a new one, which at that time was not yet familiar to him. Nevertheless, in the goalkeeper's case the Belgian showed himself very well. Thibaut Courtois, whose growth of one meter is two meters, was allegedly created to stand in the frame. So since then he takes the position of the goalkeeper.

Professional career: the beginning

Thibaut Courtois, whose photo is presented above, began his professional career in Genka. His first match took place against another Belgian club, which is called "Ghent". It is only worth thinking about: Thibaut Courtois came on the field in the main part of the adult team at 16 years old! And all because the club had a deficit of good goalkeepers. And in general this position was not popular. So Thibaut began to regularly appear on the field within the Higher Division. This was further promoted by the fact that with all the other goalkeepers there was always something happening - then fractures, then cards, then the transition to other clubs.

True, the next season, 2009/2010 was for Courtois, to put it mildly, a failure - he never went on the field for the whole year, and after sitting all the time as a spare. But in 2010/2011 Thibaut was chosen as the first goalkeeper of the team. He even participated in the preliminary stage of such a tournament as the UEFA Europa League. And only after three matches in the championship of Belgium, that is, on August 18 of the same year, the goalkeeper signed a contract with the club. Before that, no contracts had been concluded.

In that season, Thibaut Courtois played 44 games and helped his good game win the title of Belgian champion.

Care in "Chelsea"

In 2011, barely Thibault managed to sign a contract with "Genk", they became interested in the London club "Chelsea". July 14, it became known that the team agreed that Courtois will move to the team for 5 million pounds. Conditions were agreed quickly, and signed a five-year contract with pleasure. Of course, representatives of "Genka" tried to persuade the Belgian to stay, but the goalkeeper was adamant.

However, in the same month Chelsea gave their newly acquired footballer to Atletico Madrid, for rent. In the debut match for the Spaniards Thibaut Courtois spent on the field all 90 minutes and did not miss a goal in the goal.

Interesting Facts

In his small career, Thibaut Courtois managed to achieve a lot. He became the champion of the Pro-League and the winner of the Belgian Cup with "Genk". Then, playing for Madrid "Atletico", won together with the club the Spanish Example. Then he became the winner of the Europa League and the winner of the UEFA Super Cup. He also won with the team and in the Cup of Spain.
