The Vityaz Air Defense Complex is a planned replacement of the S-300P

Modern military strategy is based on the principle of preventive strike. This way of starting hostilities presupposes the conquest of superiority in the first hours after their beginning.

Such a result can be achieved if enemy aviation is destroyed at aerodromes, communication centers are destroyed, strikes are struck at headquarters, paralyzed power supply systems. In other words, the success of any military campaign is conditioned by air supremacy.

The history of armed conflicts in recent decades clearly demonstrates the priority importance of protecting ground targets from a sudden air or missile attack. Events in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya and other countries, whose armies were bombed and bombarded, leave no doubt that the cost of air defense systems is too expensive.

The task of protecting the territorial integrity and economic interests of our country is before the army and navy of the Russian Federation. The brutal lessons received at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War make it necessary to take care of the security of borders, regardless of the peaceful assurances of foreign politicians who are no-no, and will express their injustice to belonging to one state of such a quantity of natural resources.

The modern air defense complex "Vityaz", whose production was started at the Obukhov plant in St. Petersburg, is a further development of the S-300 and S-400 line. The tactical and technical data of this model are not disclosed at the moment, however, some information, voiced by the specialists of the plant, makes it possible to judge that it is capable of solving the tasks of not only aerial, but also space defense.

Medium-range air defense complex "Vityaz" was developed and designed by the concern "Almaz-Antey". It is designed to replace the S-300P systems currently on alert. This does not mean that the latter are outdated, it's just that for obvious reasons, one should not wait for such a situation.

The range of target heights that are able to capture, escort and hit the Vityaz air defense complex is very wide - from extremely small to stratospheric. The range of action corresponds to small and medium distances, which sets high requirements for the hardware and software components concerning the performance (the shorter the possible flight time, the less time is spent on making a decision).

The Vityaz Air Defense Complex is designed to protect various stationary installations. The missiles that make up its armament are similar to the fact that the S-400 is used.

Unlike the previous-generation air defense systems that formed the basis of Soviet air defense, modern complexes are mobile. Such a measure is designed to reduce vulnerability in the event of a sudden "disarming strike", for which a likely adversary can use medium-range missiles with short take-off times.

The Vityaz Air Defense Complex consists of a launcher mounted on an eight-wheeled chassis of the BAZ, a command and control center and an all-radar radar. The time required for the combat deployment of the system is minimal.

In the next seven years, it is planned to update two-thirds of the Russian Army's anti-aircraft weapons. The state will allocate over 3 trillion rubles for the development of air defense and space defense, including the development and testing of the Vityaz system. The air defense system will receive these complexes in the coming years.
