Who is Kiselev?

The rock of Kiselev is named in honor of the great Russian painter-landscape painter, professor of the Petersburg Academy of Arts Alexander Alexandrovich Kiselev. This man was born in Sveaborg, which today is one of the administrative districts of Helsinki, in 1838. Alexander was a pupil of the Arakcheevsky administrative building, and from 1858 he became a student of St. Petersburg University. In the autumn of 1861, student unrest began to take place, so the university was closed down. So the future artist became a free-lance student of the Imperial Academy of Arts. Mr. Kiselev worked in the Russian capital, but very often traveled throughout the country. He did this in order to find new landscapes for his paintings, which best reflected the nature of different seasons.

A little later Alexander started writing Caucasian species, which gained incredible success. Among the masterpieces of the author are paintings "Summer Landscape", "Ukrainian Landscape", "View of the neighborhoods of Kharkov" and other works. At the beginning of the last century, Alexander Kiselev built a house in Tuapse, which is now the artist's house museum.

A cliff of tears

Once upon a time the rock of Kiselev (Tuapse) was called the cliff of tears. And all because of one ancient Adyghe legend. Once in the surrounding area lived a young and beautiful girl Gouache. She fell in love with a jigit, a native of the village, which was located next to her house. He was called Dyshek. The couple decided to cement their love by marriage. But by tradition the groom had to steal his bride. At the peak of the cliff near the sea, that secret place was assigned. The signal for the beginning of the ceremony was to be the fire lit by Gouache. On the night of the abduction the girl decided to test her beloved for the last time. She put a flaming lamp on the beam and lowered it to the water. When the guy came and saw a floating flame, he immediately understood the intentions of his future wife. On a horse he went down to the sea and swam for a log. In the sea, the dzhigit plunged deeper and deeper. The horse was no longer visible, but Dysheyk was a strong young man. And if not for heavy mail ... Before the fire, the guy swam, but now he could not return back.

The girl never waited for her lover. Since that time, and never became a wife, Gouache often and for a long time stood on the edge of the cliff, looking out for her fiance. She wept bitterly and sang songs. The woman realized that she could not live without her Dyshek and jumped from the cliff into the sea abyss. Water has become a common grave for lovers. And the rock has acquired the name "rocks of tears". It is rumored that from time to time, from the top of the rock, there is a crying and sad songs that the girl sings.

Appearance

The rock of Kiselev (the map of Tuapse indicates the exact location of its location) became known more than a hundred years ago. This is a unique natural creation, on the Black Sea coast it is the only one of its kind. A rock is considered a visiting card of Tuapse. The cliff is visible for hundreds of meters from the sea: it is light, smooth, as if polished by winds and sea waters. On the top of the rock Kiselev grew small groves. They grow some species of lianas and Pitsunda pine. In addition to them, you can find 26 different species of shrubs and trees.
