The names of trolls from the cartoon "Trolls"

In 2016 an incredibly colorful and funny cartoon by Dreamworks appeared on the screens - "Trolls". Bold and diverse his characters with a peculiar sense of humor are very fond of not only children, but also parents. Dreaming to learn more about their new favorites, many faced the fact that in Russian and Ukrainian translations the names of trolls from the cartoon were changed (often beyond recognition). Let's see how someone is called in the cartoon "Trolls" and in the original version, and in translation.

The plot of "Trolls"

Before you learn the names of trolls, it is worth remembering what is told in the cartoon.

In the fairy-tale world there live a little ugly sad creatures - bergens. All of them unreservedly believe that the only way to find happiness is to eat the troll, as these creatures radiate a continuous positive.

To have unhindered access to the next "dose" of happiness, bergens for many years keep this people imprisoned. But once the colorful charms manage to escape.

Since then, twenty years have passed, during which the trolls successfully hide from their enemies and have fun. Over the years, a new generation of young and optimistic people has grown up, who, forgetting about the danger, are celebrating too brightly and inadvertently giving out their location. They are attacked, many of them are captured and soon must be eaten.

The daughter of the King decides to go to the rescue of his subjects, but he does not know the world well and is forced to ask for help from the sullen and unsociable troll.

Together they will have to endure a lot of adventures, look at their life differently, and bring peace and happiness not only to their people, but also to the Bergens.

Cartoon "Trolls": the names of the heroes of the main

Despite the variety of characters, in the center of the plot are two completely different in nature troll: Princess Rosochka and sullen, unsociable pessimist - Tsvetan.

As it often happens, the Russian version of the names of these characters is quite noticeably different from the original. In it the mischievous master of scrapbooking is called Poppy, which translates as "Mac". By the way, in the Ukrainian translation this heroine was called "The Machok". It remains unclear why the princess of trolls with pink hair is named after the plant, whose base color is red.

A hero in love with her, with obvious signs of paranoia (which is still right) is called Tsvetan. In the original, this faded troll is called Branch (branch, stem). Most likely, the translators in Russian gave the character this name for euphoniousness. Since the gray, almost colorless troll, called Tsvetan, looks rather paradoxical. As for the Ukrainian translation, here the name of the hero is close to the original - Pagin.

Names of friends and relatives Roszochki

At a time when the trolls fled from captivity, they ruled the brave and mischievous Pink King, who is the father of Rosa. Over time, from a gallant warrior, he turned into a good-natured old man, giving reins to his daughter. In the original he was called King Peppy (King Energetic or King Bouncy), and in the Ukrainian translation - King Peppy.

Among the friends of Roses, DJ sounds are the first, which always gives out incendiary melodies. In the original, this heroine was called DJ Suki (this came from the Japanese language name Suki).

Another close friend of the Princess is Almond (in the original Mandy Sparkledust - Mandy Sparkling Dust), which creates all the bright decorations in the city of trolls.

Also Rosette's girlfriends are 2 stylish beauties Satinka and Sinelka, whose hair is always intertwined with each other. In the original, their name is Satin (Atlas or Satin) and Chenille (Cinel).

The last of the girlfriends of the main character of the cartoon, who is worth mentioning, is Plyasunya, which in the English version is called Moxie Dewdrop (Moxie Drop of Dew).

Having considered the names of trolls, Rosa's girlfriends, it is worth moving to her friends. The most brilliant of them in the literal sense is the Diamond. In addition, that his body is completely covered with sequins, he is also a convinced nudist. In the original, his name is Guy Diamond (Diamond Guy).

Another extraordinary character is the big guy, inseparable with a worm named Druzhok. Together they are a rather unusual friendly alliance. In English this character is called Biggie (Big, Large), and his pet is Mr. Dinkles.

Quite unusual looks Cooper (in the original Cooper - Cooper). He is more like a hippie giraffe than a normal troll.

Another bright personality is the Topolek, flying on his skate beetle. In his case, the translation of the name is strikingly different from the original version, in which the character is called Aspen Heitz (Aspen Heights).

A Fuzzy (in English Fuzzbert - Pushinkobert) - this is generally a complete mystery, because it consists of a mop of green hair, from which two bare feet protrude.

The attentive person will notice that the names of friends of Rosochka do not have their Ukrainian counterparts. The fact is that in the Ukrainian box office there was a less extensive promo-company before the premiere, rather than in Russia. For this reason, many names of trolls in Ukrainian remained unknown to the general public.

Names of secondary heroes

Not all trolls were given names, although almost every character is a bright individuality.

Among the episodic heroes whose names are known, it is worth noting the grandmother of Tsvetana - Tsvetuna (Grandma Rosiepuff - Grandmother Rosie Pushinka). Also, the artist Harper (Harper) and some others, whose Russian and Ukrainian names-analogs do not have enough information: Cookie Sugarloaf, Cloud Guy, Tunnel Troll, Vinny the Phone, Captain Starfunkle, Spider, etc.

Negative characters

Considering the names of trolls from the cartoon "Trolls", one can not fail to mention the negative representatives of this species. Fortunately, he is only one - this is a stream.

In peacetime, he was a universal favorite and was considered a role model. Being an adherent of the philosophy of Zen, Truchek was able to resolve any conflicts. However, when the trouble came, he became the one who betrayed his people and all his principles for his own salvation.

In the original of this character and called - Creek (Creek). And in the Ukrainian translation he was called - Ruchai, very similar to the rough paper from the Russian word "stream". Quite a strange choice, if we consider that in Ukrainian there are nouns of "stems" and "dzherelo" quite suitable for the character's name.

Cartoon "Trolls": names of characters from the race of bergens

Among the Bergen, first of all, it is worth highlighting their King - Cartilage-elders, as well as his son - Prince (later King) Cartilage. In this case, the name was translated literally from English - Gristle (Cartilage), and in both Russian and Ukrainian versions.

Also worth mentioning, and in love with the Prince, the servant Tikhon, who was hiding under the name of Lady Blesty-Sverkai. It was she who helped to feel the Cartilage of happiness, and also risked her own life to save the trolls.

In the original, this heroine is quite ordinary (for the English-speaking world) name Bridget (Bridget). And her pseudonym Lady Glitter Sparkles (Lady Brilliant Sparks) was translated almost literally, with minor adjustments. In the Ukrainian version, the heroine's name was not changed at all, calling her Bridzhit and Ledi Syavo-Bliss.

It is worth mentioning the spiteful Cook, who uses trolls to gain power over the hungry for happiness of Bergens. In the Ukrainian translation, she was called Kukhovarka, and in the original this disgusting heroine was called Chef (Chef).

Having analyzed the names of trolls from the cartoon of the same name (and also their translation for Russian and Ukrainian dubbing), it is worth noting that the translators in both cases were very creative in their work. If the Ukrainian translation tried to preserve the original idea as much as possible in the names of the cartoon characters, then in Russian they tried to adapt them to their own taste. Interestingly, both translations turned out to be very interesting and original in their own way.
