The largest crocodiles in the world: varieties and their description

The habitat of the species is the Philippines and southeast Asia. The length of males reaches seven meters, and their weight ranges from four hundred kilograms to one ton. The largest of these reptiles was killed in the territory of India more than one century ago. Its length was 9.9 m. It should be noted that this is the largest crocodile in meters, of all that have ever been fixed. In most cases, the food of this variety is mollusks and fish. However, adults often attack larger animals - antelopes, wild pigs and buffaloes, which come to the watering place. The next representative of the large reptiles lives on the Hindustan peninsula. It reaches 4-5 meters in length and is called the marsh crocodile. Its characteristic feature is the ability to move overland, even at considerable distances. In this regard, the animal often attacks even livestock. On the other hand, the reptile itself sometimes becomes the food of larger predators, for example, tigers.

The largest crocodiles in the world also live on the territory of the American continent. One of their brightest representatives is Orion. Its length is about six meters. Extraction of a reptile is most often fish. In connection with the extermination of man, this species has now become quite rare. Its population in the world currently stands at about one and a half thousand individuals. Orion crocodiles live mainly in the area of the rivers of Venezuela and Colombia.

The last species on the list of "the biggest crocodiles in the world" is the American sharp-fingered. The length of the reptile averages just over five meters. It is found mainly in South America. Predator extraction in most cases becomes fish and small mammals. As for attacks on people, it happens extremely rarely and only to protect themselves and their offspring. It should be noted that the American sharply crocodile can adapt to salt water, so it can swim for long distances even at sea.
