The laptop overheats: what to do?

If you are overheating the laptop, then this can lead to the most disastrous consequences, up to the total failure of work. After the release of the Pentium Mobile model, notebooks with Intel-based processors are supplied with less energy-intensive "stones." In addition, in the BIOS settings there is a possibility of emergency shutdown of the device in case of processor overheating, that is, the laptop overheats and turns off. It seems that laptops are protected from critical overheating. But there is no such protection, which is able to give a one hundred percent guarantee, and constant overheating can significantly hinder work.

What should I do if the laptop overheats? With continuous fan operation, a background noise may appear in the laptop, which is a little annoying. In addition, the fan should not spin too fast, as this can damage it. Typically, the fan is embedded in the BIOS, so you can set its settings by setting a constant mode of operation or on demand. If the settings were set correctly, and the laptop's temperature does not stop, and the noise of the fan is constantly heard, it is necessary to clean the cooler. It is used to cool both the processor and the graphics chip. In laptops, it usually sucks cold air from under the bottom, giving it back or on the side of the device already warm. The notebook overheats sometimes due to the large amount of dust that it sucked inside.

Before this fan is not difficult to get. It is necessary to disconnect the laptop from the network, remove the battery, turn it over, and on the bottom find a grate made in the form of a square. If you blow to the side opposite to the side of the air passage, and dust appears from under the bottom, then you must necessarily clean the fan. This is convenient to do with a vacuum cleaner. Set it to minimum power, put the hose to the grate for 10-15 seconds. You need to do this periodically, but your laptop must be turned off. If, after such a cleaning, the fan is still running all the time, you need to check the BIOS settings again, since you might have made a mistake in choosing the mode. In addition, you need to pay attention to the location of this grid, since the whole thing may be that it closes during operation.

Sometimes the laptop overheats because it does not have a special system for cooling. If the clearance between the table and the bottom of the device is very small, access to cold air will be very difficult, which is often the cause of overheating, and the fan will always work at high speeds, which irritates very much. In this case, it might be a good idea to buy a special stand for a laptop. There are supports with or without a fan. The first type of stand is connected to the laptop via USB-interface, they have one or several fans for cooling.

If you were not helped by what was suggested above, then there is another option: you need to change the thermal paste. It is a substance that is designed to improve the transfer of heat from the processor to the cooler. It dries up over time, and its functions get worse. At times, it must be replaced with a new one. This is not a complicated, but very important procedure, therefore, only an experienced user can do it on its own. In addition, if you do this yourself, you can lose free warranty service.

It is important to remember that the laptop can overheat and with prolonged work with increased load when performing some complicated tasks. The reason why the laptop overheats can be its constant operation from the network, and not from the battery, since the components work at maximum power, which entails adverse effects.
