The theme of today's article is a comedy called The White Crow. Actors in it played little-known. At least it was at the time the comedy came out on screens, but it happened in 1999. Social problems, the abundance of criminal elements in the American black ghetto - all this is shown in the "White Crow". Actors played their part well, but without a hint of tragedy. The main role was played by Mitch Mallany. The actor began his career with performances in the stand-up genre. In the late nineties Mallanie was bored with his monotonous, albeit creative work, and he decided to try his hand at literature. He did not write a novel, but something new writer was able to do. Namely - to write a script. Called Mallany his "The Black Sheep".

The actor played the main role in the film according to his own script. In the filmography of his only six works. Among them there is only one scenario - "The White Crow". The actor, unfortunately, passed away nine years after his film debut at the age of thirty-nine. What about the comedy, in the creation of which Mitch Mallanie acted both as a screenwriter and as a protagonist?

White African American

The film narrates about the cheerful and reckless life of a white guy named Derrick King, who lives in the black quarter. His biological parents are far away, in Ireland. My mother refused Derrick when he was very young. The boy was adopted by a large black family. And now a young man who grew up in a black poor neighborhood behaves like a typical African American. Moreover, the protagonist allows himself such liberties in dealing with his stern stepmother, which her daughters do not dare.

Expulsion from the paternal house

He feels completely at ease in a rather uncomfortable environment. Derrick does not bother him atypical for the black ghetto skin color. Once he brings a girl to the house, in order to go with her to a closer communication. But unexpectedly is the mother. She finds her adopted son in shameful deed right in her own home. An angry woman drives a girl of easy virtue out of the door, and the guy himself makes a severe warning. Then gives the main character a simple task at first glance - go to the supermarket and buy a bottle of milk.

A young man, realizing that he committed a serious offense, without extra talking goes to the store. However, he immediately forgets what his adoptive parent asked. This overflows the cup of patience of a woman. She just sets the poor guy out the door.

Further Adventures of Derrick

But this is not enough trouble for the guy. The unemployed employee is dismissed from work. In addition, the police confiscate the car, having written out a bunch of fines for the improper appearance of the car. Such problems, falling on the shoulders of a person in one day, will break anyone, but not the hero of the film "The White Crow". He goes to seek help and solve his troubles on the street, where, in fact, he spent most of his life. Here, a good-natured young man helps a troubled youngster who, from under the counter, bargains with illegal drugs. And then in the life of King come really hard times. Derrick accidentally crosses the road to local criminal authority.

In the "White Crow" himself played musician George Clinton. The only female role in the comedy was played by Loretta Devine, a popular American actress, winner of the Emmy Award for her role in the series "Anatomy of Passion".
