The film "Ivan Vasilievich changes his profession": where they shot, in which house, interesting facts

The film "Ivan Vasilievich changes profession" has long been an imperishable classic, which is known almost by heart not only to residents of Russia, but also to Ukraine, Belarus and other CIS countries. Despite the huge popularity, most viewers still do not know the details of the creation of this film masterpiece, as well as where exactly the individual scenes were shot.

Film by Leonid Ya. Gaidai "Ivan Vasilievich Changes His Profession"

Where the film was filmed, will be considered a little later, and now it is worth remembering the background of the appearance of this picture.

Not everyone knows, but the script was written by Leonid Iovich (co-authored with Vladlen Bakhnov) on the basis of Mikhail Afanasievich Bulgakov's play.

The main plot twists of the original work Gaidai kept, despite the fact that in it the action took place in the second half of the thirties. At the same time Leonid Iovich significantly modernized "Ivan Vasilyevich", adapting it to the realities of the seventies. In addition, the great director staged in the center of the plot is not Ivan the Terrible (as was the case with Bulgakov), and the managing director Bunsh and, turned into Shurik, the designer of the "magic" machine - the engineer Timofeev.

After delays and numerous censorship commissions that studied and corrected the script, at the end of August 1972, the pictures began to be filmed. And a year later - September 17, the premiere of the tape in the cinemas of the USSR.

Gaidai's new comedy was so popular with viewers that over a year on the big screen it was viewed by over sixty million people. They immediately took the tape to quote, many of which still remain relevant, although many years have passed.

Cast

When Leonid Gaidai was just starting to write the screenplay for the comedy "Ivan Vasilievich is changing his profession," he looked for the place of filming and chose artists, he preached the main role of Yuri Nikulin. It was for him that Leonid Iovich carefully wrote down the image of the tsar-governor. However, after reading the script, the actor was afraid that such a seditious, as at that time, film simply would not be released in the rental. And to lose a year of work, he did not want to. Therefore, referring to the employment in the circus, Yuri Vladimirovich refused to appear, which he later regretted very much.

Instead of Nikulin Ivan the Terrible tried Vitsin, Evstegneev, Lebedev and even Etush, who later played in the project of the stolen dentist Shpak.
In the end, the role of the king-manager was given to the artist, already known in those years, Yuri Yakovlev. His ability to portray both a strict king and a miserable public figure at one glance became the decisive argument in favor of the actor's assertion.

There were also problems with the choice of the performer of the role of Georges Miloslavsky. Since the original protagonist was supposed to be played by Nikulin, his time travel companion was planned to be done by Andrei Mironov, with whom they had already worked with Gaydai in "The Diamond Arm". However, when Ivan Vasilievich turned out to be Yakovlev, he had to look for a new Miloslavsky, since they did not succeed with Andrei Alexandrovich. The role of the resourceful burglar dreamed of performing such brilliant artists of the Soviet cinema as Innocent, Yumatov, Nikonenko and others. In the end, Leonid Kuravlev was confirmed. It is rumored that Gaidai chose him for his ability to perfectly depict rudeness.

The role of the Zaporozhye's tail-tail was inherited by Natalia Selezneva not at once. Although she already acted in a duet with Alexander Demyanenko in Leonid Yovic in Operation Y "...", the actress had to compete for participation in the project with Gundareva and Gvozdikova. And, as it turned out, not in vain. In addition to the overwhelming success, the actress managed to become an icon of style for thousands of Soviet women. Dresses for the heroine of Selezneva in the picture were sewed by Vyacheslav Zaitsev himself and many spectators came to the cinema to simply admire the fashionista Zinochka and sketch the styles of her elegant costumes.

However, the famous couturier dressed not only the spouse Shurik who fled with her lover, but also the unformal wife of Ivan Vasyevich Bunshi - Ulyana Andreevna, performed by Natalia Krachkovskaya. Being the favorite of Gaidai, this artist without any problems received a cherished role. The only condition for the famous director was the preservation of the actress of her magnificent forms. Therefore, during the shooting Natalia Leonidovna had to sit on a special diet, so as not to lose weight.

With the approval of the remaining actors, there were no problems, since Leonid Iovich already worked with most of them before. So, A. Demyanenko (Shurik), S. Kramarov (scribe of Ivan the Terrible), S. Phillipov (ambassador), M. Pugovkin (Yakin razlunik), V. Etush (robbed Shpak) and N. Maslova (Marfa-tsarina ).

Where the locations of the Ancient Kremlin were filmed

Having received "kindness" for the project, Leonid Gaidai started looking for a place for full-scale shooting. The fact is that the great filmmaker craved that on a par with the scenery, in the movie was shown and a real ancient fortress. Soon such a place was found - it was a state museum-reserve called "Rostov Kremlin", located in the Yaroslavl region. It was this museum that became the historical place where "Ivan Vasilyevich changed his profession". The Rostov Kremlin "played" the role of residence for Ivan the Terrible, as well as for "and. about. King "- the governor of Bunshi.

The film crew of the project stayed in Rostov for seven days. All this time they spent in the museum-reserve, where they filmed "Ivan Vasilyevich changing profession" The city has long remembered this event. To commemorate the joint work, the museum was presented with two suits of guards and axes-berdyshi from the props. And to this day, the employees of the museum-reserve meet in them especially important visitors.

After shooting in early September 1972, Gaydai and his colleagues left hospitable Rostov, where they shot the film "Ivan Vasilyevich changing his profession," and returned home.

Shooting in the streets of the capital of the USSR

Most of the landscapes in the picture were taken in the "capital city". Returning from Rostov, where the films "Ivan Vasilievich changes profession", Leonid Gaidai and his colleagues first filmed "nature" in Moscow (Povarskaya Street, Kalininsky Prospekt and Borodino Bridge), until the weather deteriorated.

So the following scenes of the tape appeared: driving through the streets of the ambulance, the police car and Yakin's car; As well as the pursuit of police officers for disguised as a medic Miloslavsky.

At what address is the house where they filmed "Ivan Vasilievich changes his profession"

Near the metro station "Paveletskaya" is Novokuznetskaya street. It was here in 1971 that a multi-storey residential building with an unusual zigzag shape and a magic number-13 was built. This building is the place where the film "Ivan Vasilievich changes his profession" was shot.

In the courtyard of this historic building there was a quarrel between Shurik and Bunsha, who was trying to erase the inscription "fool" on the wall of the house. Also in the same building was in the seventies store "Radio Engineering", where the inventor of the time machine tried to buy the details from the speculator.

By the way, specially for the picture, not far from this house was built a telephone booth that became not only a useful device for the residents of the house, but also a "pavilion" where they filmed "Ivan Vasilyevich changing his profession."

The city of Moscow, from a bird's-eye view, admired by the "king and grand duke" standing on the balcony of the apartment in house No. 13/1, was not shot here, but in a completely different place.

What part of Moscow is visible from the balcony of Shurik

By the beginning of the seventies the New Arbat had acquired a completely different appearance and many Muscovites were skeptical of these changes. However, with the easy hand of Gaidai, the situation has changed for the better.

The fact is that from the balcony of one of the skyscrapers on Novy Arbat the panorama of the Moskva River and Kutuzovsky Prospekt was taken off, which Ivan the Terrible so admired.

Thus, this area of the capital was made a very famous and popular painting "Ivan Vasilyevich is changing his profession." Where there were shootings of these scenes - just now no one will remember. At the same time, they played an important role in making Muscovites change the appearance of the New Arbat.

Filming in "Ostankino" and "Soyuz"

The most unexpected places served as "nature" when working on the film "Ivan Vasilievich changes his profession." Where to shoot individual moments - many seem surprising.

For example, the role of the police building, where the investigators caused by Shpak are sent, was played by the Moscow hotel Soyuz, located not far from Mosfilm. And the hospital, where the ambulance from Ulyana Andreevna is sent, was the Ostankino television center.

Work in the pavilions "Mosfilm"

After the end of field shooting, Gaidai moved to the pavilion. All of them took place at the studio "Mosfilm". The best artists-decorators in Moscow were prepared sixteen objects for the film "Ivan Vasilievich changes profession", where they shot a good half of all the scenes of the project.

Most of the scenery (ten complexes) was designed as an interior at home on Novokuznetskaya 13/1. This apartment Shpaka; dental office; Elevator, where the "demons" immured the poor king; Rooms in the "mansion" of Shurik; The apartment of the Governor of Bunshi; A staircase and a few more locations of the tape "Ivan Vasilievich changes profession", where they shot modernity.

But for the interiors of the times of John Vasilyevich Grozny, only six sets of decorations were needed. However, they were all done so masterfully that many believed that the shooting took place in the same Rostov Kremlin, Yaroslavl region.

Surprisingly, all the decorative complexes erected for the movie, fit on a fairly modest area of 1428 square meters. M.

The last scene of the tape, filmed in Yalta

In mid-January 1973, when all the material was filmed - the installation of the picture and the voice-over began. Unfortunately, in the process of work it turned out that it is necessary to remove another episode in which Zina sings the song "Love to meet ..." with the voice of Nina Brodskaya.

For this purpose, in March, Gaydai and the group went to Yalta (Crimea). Here they for 2 days dopnjali the necessary material and, having returned to Moscow, have continued installation of a film "Ivan Vasilevich changes a trade". Where they shot specifically in Yalta the moment with singing Zinochka, today no one remembers.

Interesting facts

  • Natalia Krachkovskaya had five wigs in the movie. By the way, contrary to the general error, she was not sheared for a scene with two husbands. The luxurious curls of the actress were hidden under a children's rubber cap for swimming, on top of which was a stitched wig. Interestingly, the actress herself almost died on the set. Climbing Shurik's apartment to the balcony, she almost fell, so this moment did not go into the finished picture.
  • The house at: Novokuznetskaya Street 13/1 in 2011 became the set for another comedy - "That's Carlson" with Mikhail Galustyan in the title role. Previously, this building was known as the place where they filmed "Ivan Vasilievich changes his profession."
  • From the finished tape, materials were cut for almost 10 minutes. Among the episodes not included in the film are the Miloslavsky catching scene by the police on the river tram, and the moment when Ivan the Terrible is standing by the stove in Shurik's kitchen and preparing his own dinner.
  • As costumes for the tsar, the queen and the boyars with the guards, the costumes that were left after the film by Sergei Eisenstein "Ivan the Terrible" were used.
  • Decoration of the staircase, created for the picture, was used in the four-part television movie "The Big Change", filmed on "Mosfilm" in the same period.
  • Performer of the role of Queen Martha - actress Nina Maslova, before the decisive shooting, because of an unfortunate misunderstanding, got into the eye and got a noticeable bruise. That's why in most frames I shoot it from the side. By the way, in parallel with this project, she was paired with Savely Kramarov and played in the "Great Change".
  • In the scene, when the arrested Ivan Grozno is asked about his place of residence, he answers: "Moscow, the Kremlin" (an obvious hint at the government of the USSR). However, the commission found this phrase seditious and replaced with another - "In the wards."
  • Also, when the voice acting was changed, one of the replicas of the disguised Tsar Bunshi. Accepting the ambassador, in the original, the manager said "Peace, friendship". For an unknown reason, the censorship forced Gaidai to change the phrase to "Hitler kaput!".
  • Another altered remark was the answer of the false prince at the royal feast, during which the manager wanted to know: "Who will pay?". According to the script George had to say - "People". It was only after the censorship was edited that his answer became vague: "In any case: not we ...".
  • Especially for the royal banquet, Gaydai bought personal scarce food to create royal abundance on the table. But in the role of coveted overseas eggplant caviar served kuchevik.
  • Leonid Gaidai believed very much in omens. So he considered his talisman a cat of black suit. For this reason, this animal appeared in many of its comedies. This picture is no exception, the director cat plays in it not the least role.
  • In memory of Leonid Gayday, the Agatha Christie band made a video for the musical composition "Fairy tale". In it appeared all the performers of the main roles in the picture, and also used separate frames from the tape.

In the second half of the nineties the third musical film "Old songs about the main thing" appeared on TV screens. It replayed the plot of the comedy about the tsar, the governor, and even the actors who participated in the project earlier took part. However, this attempt to play on the love of Gaidai's offspring, came out rather pathetic and was not received by the audience. In addition, she once again confirmed that to create a masterpiece, it is necessary to put a soul into it, as the great Soviet director Leonid Gaidai did.
