The drug "Tavanik." Instructions

Tavanik (analogue - elefoks or floracid) includes levofloxacin. The drug is available in tablet form, in the form of a solution for infusion. Tavanik instructions characterize as a synthetic antibacterial agent with a wide range of effects. The drug belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones.

After oral (inward) use, levofloxacin is almost completely and quickly absorbed. The use of food has an insignificant effect on the completeness and speed of absorption. The component penetrates into tissues and organs (lungs, sputum, bronchus mucosa, bone tissue, prostate, spinal fluid and others) quite well.

A small amount of active substance is disacitated or oxidized. Excretion is carried out mainly by the kidneys. After taking the tablet form of the drug for forty-eight hours, urine releases about 87% of the dosage taken unchanged. Seventy-two hours later, less than 4% of the feces were found. After intravenous administration, excretion predominantly occurs in the urine in an unchanged form.

Levofloxacin is active against most microorganisms (anaerobic, gram-positive, gram-negative).

Tavanik does not recommend the instruction to adolescents and children due to the risk of developing cartilage lesions in the joints. When prescribing the drug, patients in old age should consider the likelihood of having disorders of renal activity.

Tavanik may not have the optimal therapeutic efficacy for pneumonia of high severity due to pneumococci. Combination therapy may be required for hospital infections triggered by certain pathogens.

In patients who had previous brain lesions associated with severe trauma or stroke, the use of tavanik can provoke seizures. The likelihood of convulsions increases with the combined use of fenbufen, as well as similar NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) or theophylline.

The use of the drug may cause stupor, dizziness, and visual impairment. Tavanik and alcohol in combination provoke the development of these adverse reactions in a more pronounced degree.
