The drug 'Legalon'. Instructions for use

The drug "Legalon" is available in the form of capsules and infusion solution. The active ingredient is silymarin.

The antioxidant activity of the drug is related to the ability of the active substance to bind all free radicals. As a result, the pathophysiological peroxidation of lipids is prevented or interrupted , which provokes the destruction of cell membranes. Thus, the loss of soluble components in liver cells (transaminase in particular) is limited or terminated.

The active substance of the drug slows the penetration of individual hepatotoxic components into the cell (for example, poison pallid grebe).

Silymarin also enhances protein synthesis by stimulating A-polymerase RNA (an enzyme that is located in the nucleus). This helps to increase the formation of ribosomal RNA. As a result, protein synthesis (both functional and structural) is stimulated. Thus, silymarin improves the reducing ability and accelerates regeneration of the hepatic cells.

Capsules "Legalon" instruction for use recommends use with toxic lesions in the liver. The medicine is prescribed for cirrhosis or inflammatory phenomena in the liver (as a supporting drug).

Infusion solution "Legalon" instruction for use recommends using poisoning pale toadstool.

Capsules are prescribed to patients from the age of twelve. Dosage - 1 (one hundred and forty milligrams) or 2 (seventy milligrams) capsules three times a day. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually.

The dose of the "Legalon" solution is recommended for use in accordance with the mass. One kilogram of weight is prescribed for twenty milligrams of the drug. The resulting dosage is divided into four infusions. The duration of each infusion is not less than two hours (taking into account the fluid balance in the body). At a weight of seventy kilograms per one infusion, one bottle is required.

Before the infusion, the contents of the vial are dissolved in thirty-five milliliters of glucose solution (5%) or sodium chloride (0.9%) and mixed with the infusion solution.

The drug "Legalon" instruction recommends using after poisoning as early as possible, even if the final diagnosis of intoxication with fungi is not exactly established.

Intravenous infusions are carried out for several days until the symptoms of poisoning are completely eliminated .

The drug "Legalon" instruction for use does not allow for the appointment with increased individual sensitivity, acute poisoning of a different nature (except those indicated in the annotation).

When using the drug in rare cases, a hypersensitivity reaction may appear in the form of dyspnea or rash. The drug "Legalon" (reviews and comments of doctors confirm this) is low-toxic. In this regard, its long-term use in therapeutic dosages is allowed. In some cases, the medicine may have a laxative effect. Some patients may experience a feeling of heat during the infusion.
