Itraconazole (Orungal) is available in the form of capsules for oral administration. The drug, being a derivative of triazole, shows activity to infections provoked by dermatophytes, yeasts, yeast-like and moldy fungi.

The mechanism of the effect of the drug Itraconazole-ratopharm is based on the ability to disrupt the synthesis of an important component in the cell membrane of the fungus, ergosterol.

The drug is indicated for dermatomycosis, onychomycosis provoked by mold fungi, yeast, as well as dermatophytes, fungal keratitis, systemic mycoses, candidiasis and aspergillosis. Itraconazole instruction recommends use with sporotrichosis, histoplasmosis, blastomycosis, paracoccidioidomycosis, candidomycosis with lesions of mucous membranes or skin (including vulvovaginal candidiasis). Indications are also visceral candidiasis (deep), pityriasis lichen. It is not recommended simultaneous reception of Itraconazole with drugs metabolized by the enzyme CYP 3A4, which are capable of prolonging (prolonging) the QT interval. They include, in particular, Astemizol, Terfenadine, Quinidine, Dofetilide, Pimozide, Sertindol, Levomethadone and others.

Contraindicated the use of Itraconazole with cleavable CYP 3A4-enzyme inhibitors of reductase HMG-CoA. They include Lovastatin, Simvastatin.

It is not recommended simultaneous appointment of Itraconazole with preparations of ergot alkaloids. They include Ergometrin, Ergothamine, Dihydroergotamine, Methylergometrine.

The use of Itraconazole should be agreed with the attending physician. Premature termination or irregular application can significantly reduce therapeutic effectiveness and not bring the desired result from the therapy.
