The drug "Escuzan" is a drug containing an extract extracted from the fruits of horse chestnut. In addition, it contains thiamine.

The drug "Escuzan", the instruction for its use acquaints us with the medicinal product under consideration, is produced by the pharmaceutical industry in the form of tablets or a solution. The choice of the form of the drug depends on the appointment of a specialist and the wishes of the patient. Describing the drug "Escuzan" (tablets), the instruction indicates that they are covered with a shell and are packaged in twenty, fifty or one hundred pieces. The dosage of the solution is twenty milliliters.

The drug "Escuzan" is able to provide antiexudative and antioxidant, venotonizing and decongestant, as well as a capillaroprotective effect on the body. The component that has the main effect in the treatment of diseases is the substance escin, which belongs to the group of triterpene glycosides. This element is part of the extract of horse chestnut. Eszin shows its venotonizing and capillary-protective properties due to the ability to stimulate the amount of hormones produced by the adrenal cortex and to increase the number of prostaglandins. In addition, this active substance normalizes the contractile function of the muscles of the vessels, which allows to reduce their fragility, increase tissue metabolism and improve the condition of the capillaries.

The preparation "Escuzan", the instruction on which application considers its pharmacological effect on the body, produces a capillaroprotective effect due to its ability to deactivate lysosomal enzymes. As a result, the process of cleavage of mucopolysaccharides in the vascular walls ceases.

Anti-inflammatory effect of the drug is different because of its ability to reduce the movement of leukocytes and the permeability of vascular walls due to escin and sterol compounds. The drug demonstrates the ability to provide antioxidant protection in connection with the presence of thiamine in its composition. This substance is an inactivator of an aggressive form of oxygen and a hydroxyl group, which reduces the magnitude of the process of destruction of cell membranes.

The drug "Escuzan", the instruction for its use indicates the main area of its use, is recommended for the course of treatment of venous insufficiency, which is chronic, as well as when the following painful symptoms occur:

• Cramps in the calf muscles;
• Swelling of the legs;
• Hematomas and vascular "stars";
• Sensations of heaviness in the lower limbs;
• Itching of the skin, which is the consequence of venous disorders.

In addition, the medication is used in postthrombophlebitic syndrome and trophic changes in the legs, postoperative swelling and inflammation localized in soft tissues, and also if the patient suffers from hemorrhoids.
