Danish goalkeeper Casper Schmeichel

Everyone remembers goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, who was one of the strongest guards of the gates of his time. Now his son Casper Schmeichel, who protects the colors of the English "Leicester", came to replace him. He is also the main goalkeeper of the Danish national football team, like his father. However, Casper Schmeichel did not start his career in Leicester, in which clubs did the Dane manage to play?

Early career at Manchester City

Casper Schmeichel was born on November 5, 1986 in Denmark, but the football vocation brought him far from his homeland already in his teens. In 2000, he moved to Portugal, where he was in the local club "Estoril", but only for two years. In 2002, the 16-year-old goalkeeper signed the English "Manchester City". Two years later, when the Dane turned eighteen, the club offered him a professional contract, which Schmeichel gladly agreed to. However, it was too early to rejoice: the young goalkeeper had no chance of getting into the main team. The whole year he sat on the bench, speaking only for the club's double, until a decision was made to lease him. And Schmeichel eventually went to gain experience in "Darlington", speaking in the Second League.

Leases

In "Darlington" Casper Schmeichel, whose biography so far was not so much like his famous father, spent only one month playing in four matches. Then followed the year of rent in "Bury", where Schmeichel was the main goalkeeper and went on the field in 29 games. After that, the stakes were raised, and Casper went to the Scottish High League, where he joined the Falkirk for half a year. There he played in 17 games and went on a regular lease - returned to Manchester City. During the season 07/08 he managed to play in the club in seven games, but also visited two clubs on loan: first in Cardiff City, where he played 14 matches, and then at Coventry City, where he played nine more Matches. In the next season, the 22-year-old goalkeeper has already stayed on the bench of Manchester City and played three more matches, after which it was decided to sell it.

Going to Notts County

In the summer of 2009, the 23-year-old goalkeeper moved to the club of the second division of Notts County, which paid him two million euros. There the Dane spent an incredible season, having played 49 matches. And the next year he moved to the more eminent Leeds.

The heyday in Leeds

It was in the "Leeds" Casper showed himself the best side, showing his goalkeeper talent. He defended at the gate in forty matches, after which for two million euros was sold to "Leicester." Finally, the 25-year-old goalkeeper found his place.

Exit to the top in Leicester

In "Leicester" Schmeichel spent five seasons, three of which were in the Championship, after which the team reached the Premier League, held a good season there, and then made a sensation and won the Championship, which was attended by clubs such as Manchester City, "Manchester United", "Chelsea" and so on. In total, Schmeichel played for these five years in 220 games, and this season appeared on the field eight more times, five of them defending to zero. And the year 2014 was remembered by the fact that Casper followed in the footsteps of his father. At the last minute he ran into the opponent's penalty area, when his team lost, and scored a head. Casper Schmeichel's goal caused a stormy reaction, as he saved his team from defeat and repeated what his father had done before.
