Summer of Polyglot. Study abroad.

Most students come to the summer language schools in Great Britain. It's not just that English is spoken half the world: it was the British who first introduced the language plus program. That children not only studied, but also improved in their favorite hobby, be it painting, swimming, equestrian sports, dancing or acting. Rugby School, for example, offers in addition to engage in rugby and media design, Harrow School - tennis and golf.

Studying foreign languages and studying abroad has obvious advantages, because your child will be among foreigners and language training will take place outside the classroom.

Learning a language is cheaper in the province: prices in capitals or university cities like Oxford and Cambridge are 10-15% higher.

You can settle the child either in the family or in the school dormitory. Children under 10 years old are probably better suited home atmosphere. Adolescents prefer to live on campus rather than obey the rules dictated to them by school teachers, not by "temporary parents".

On the other hand, "temporary parents" can be an alternative to the whole school. In Europe, you can find Russian-speaking teachers who practice private lessons at home, while offering a full board and cultural program. Payment or hourly (the usual rate is about 50 euros per hour), or a lump-sum payment (roughly speaking, for everything at once), which is preferable. A good private teacher will never say from the doorstep that his schedule is permanent and can not be changed. In addition, classes can take place not at "desk", but in a museum, park or on an excursion. The price tag remains unchanged.

Training Rules

At school, children are first offered a test, the result of which is distributed into several groups, depending on the level of preparation. In most institutions there is a limit on the number of pupils-compatriots in the group. Moreover, in a room necessarily representatives of different nationalities settle - as a rule, no more than four people. They should apply for help only in the language they came to teach. This is done in order to save the child from the temptation to communicate in his native language, so that he fully immerses himself in the language environment.

The intensity of the workload varies, but, as a rule, does not exceed 22-25 academic hours per week. For an additional fee you can hire one of the full-time teachers as an individual tutor.

Typical entertainment - sports, intellectual games, discos, film shows, themed evenings, barbecues, field trips. In the summer camp of the International Language Academy of Canada in Toronto, students are invited to a medieval knight tournament, they drive to Niagara Falls, and the French schools of Atoll Juniors turn into a real cabaret with an incendiary music and dances for one night.

The price indicated on the official websites of schools or intermediary companies usually includes a standard package of study together with study materials, accommodation, three meals a day, an entertainment program and excursions. Additionally, you need to pay for airfares, visa fees, transfers, registration fees and medical insurance. Of course, you will have to overpay for the services of an intermediary agency - an average of 7500-12000 rubles. However, if parents themselves do not speak foreign languages at a decent level, then negotiations with the school should be better provided to professionals.
