Summary of the "Kholstomer" Tolstoy L.N .: description, characterization of the characters and reviews

In this article we will consider one of the works of the great classics, especially we will analyze the brief content. "Holstomer" is a little-known novel by L.N. Tolstoy. It was written in 1886, although it was conceived in the middle of the 19th century. Then the acquaintance of the writer's horse breeder told him the story of a horse with the nickname of Kholstomer. But almost 30 years passed before the work was finally written down and published.

"Kholstomer" (Tolstoy): a short summary. String

In the morning, from the equestrian yard of the master, they drive the horses to graze on the meadow. From the herd stands out a pensive and serious kind of piegial aged gelding. He, unlike other horses, waits patiently until he is saddled by Nester. Merin knows everything in advance, because everything repeats from day to day. Nester often scratches his horse under his neck, believing that he likes it. But Strider, this is the name of the gelding, tolerates these strokes only out of courtesy. Suddenly a man hits him with a whip on his leg. The horse is perplexed, he is offended and can not understand what was wrong. But Strider is not touchy. He does not pay attention to the ridicule and nagging of other horses. With pride and dignity, he silently forgives others.

Perfectly conveys the nature of the protagonist's summary. Strider is no longer young, his body is decrepit, but still contains signs of former strength and beauty. His old age is both majestic and nasty. This causes other horses to despise and resent.

At night the herd chases the gelding at the horse yard. Finally, he does not stand up and begins a story about his life, which lasts five nights.

The beginning of the gelding history

Tells about the life of a simple gallant horse Leo Tolstoy. "Kholstomer" (the summary of which is presented here) is a wonderful example of a work that makes you think about the life of animals.

So, the gelding was born from Baba and Lyubezny first. According to the pedigree, his nickname is Muzhik first, but usually his name is simply Kholstomerom. This nickname he received for a sweeping and long stroke. Since its birth, it differs piebald color. He feels the love of the mother, begins to experience the attraction to the mares. But his life changes dramatically when the horse is emasculated, so that the genus of the pigs does not last. The habit of differing from others led him to profundity and seriousness.

The young gelding closely observes people and understands that they value words, and not deeds. And the main thing for them is the word "mine". It changes their behavior and makes them lie. Hostomer, despite the fact that he bypasses even trotters, sells to the young lady.

Hunted Horse

We continue our summary. Strider gets to the hussar officer, here for him begins the best time in life. His new master is rich, handsome, cruel and cold. But that's what made the gelding fall in love with him. And the owner needed just such a horse, which would be different from the others. So people will notice, they will start to look back at him, to avoid. Strider served the owner selflessly. He was happy and even ready to die for this man. Merin admires himself and his master.

But one day a mistress throws a hussar and leaves with another officer. Wanting to catch up with her, the owner drives his horse. The stapler trembles all night and can not even eat. In the morning he was allowed to drink, but since then he ceased to be that quick horse, as before. After that, the gelding is sold several times, until it comes to the local clerk.

The next evening after the end of the story, the herd returns from the meadow. The clerk leads to the courtyard of the guest, showing him the most expensive and best horses. He reluctantly praises the animals. The guest walks past Kholstomer, claps his horse around the rump and says that he once had exactly the same horse. Merin with surprise learns in this flabby old man the hussar-master.

Decoupling

A short summary ("Strider") is coming to an end. The action is transferred to the manor house. In the luxuriously furnished living room sit the host with the hostess and their guest. Former officer Nikita Serpukhov turned 40 years old. Once he was a handsome young man, but now he has gone down morally, physically and financially. He managed to squander all his fortune and still had to. Serpukhov is unpleasant to look at the happiness of the owners. He tries to remember the past when he was rich and handsome, and did not think about the present. But the owner does not allow the guest to turn around, interrupt and brag about his life. Boring for both the conversation lasts until the morning, although they do not listen to each other. Then Serpukhov gets drunk and, staggering, goes to sleep.

Tabunshchik Vasya at night takes Strider and goes to the tavern. The whole night the gelding spends on a leash in the neighborhood with the peasant horse, which infects him with scab. It takes five days, and Holstomer is taken away for the shed. The gorge is cut there. When the blood comes out of it, he thinks that the weight of his life also goes with it. A horse is ripped off a horse, and its flesh is taken to a domestic animal, and at night even a wolf comes. After a week, only bones remain from the gelding. But they are used by peasants.

Heroes

We have finished re-telling the story "Holstomer" (a summary of the chapters), now let's talk about the main characters. In the center of attention is a figure of a gelding and a herd of horses, people are assigned the role of secondary heroes.

The tabun is a metaphor for the contemporary author of a public organization. Therefore, horses are humanized and have the qualities inherent only in people - pity, cruelty, sadness, fun, pride, etc. Such is the main character, whose biography is devoted almost to the whole work. Strider is the embodiment of a Russian peasant farmer. The destiny of a gelding reflects the fate of a humiliated, trampled muzhik, whom only "humiliation and work" are waiting for in life.

People act in the story with the same force that tramples on the dignity of those who are loyal to them. These are the same gentlemen and gentlemen who do not spare or like anyone except themselves.

Reviews

You can say that the fate of the common people was written by Leo Tolstoy ("Kholstomer"). The brief content once again confirms this idea, but what does the reader think about the work? Reviews about the story are only positive. Tolstoy as a writer does not make sense as a writer, but many people appreciated the topics he raised. This is not only a question of cruel treatment of animals, but also a problem of abuse of people. All readers agree on one thing - Tolstoy told a sad story that makes you think about life.
