Sugomak cave: description and photo

The Sugomak Cave (Kyshtym) is the only natural formation in the Urals, which arose naturally in marble. To visit this unique place is considered by one's duty to every self-respecting speleologist.

Mount Sugomak

The presented elevation is located near the Ural village of Kyshtym, which is in the Chelyabinsk region. The height of the Sugomak mountain is 591 m above sea level.

The ascent to the hill is quite simple. Since the slopes of the mountain are mostly shallow, not only adults, but also old people and children, can climb here without any problems. Many paths are trampled here, which remain noticeable even under the snow cover in the winter. With a leisurely pace, climbing a mountain takes an average of one hour. The paths run through deciduous forests. Therefore climbing here is recommended in the autumn, when foliage pleases the eye with bright colors

At the beginning of the ascent, tourists have to climb a small hillock. When it seems that the path is almost complete, the road of the main peak blocks the way. Here it is necessary to overcome several large outcrops of rock.

From the Sugomak mountain, dizzying views are opened. The surrounding area can be seen for tens of kilometers. From here you can enjoy picturesque pictures of lakes, dense forests, steep mountain peaks.

Sugomak cave

As already noted above, the unique difference of the cave is that its walls are formed of smooth banded marble. For a long time it was considered the longest in the region (about 150 m). However, in the 2000s, the Salnikov Cave was discovered in the Urals. Her moves were several meters longer.

The Sugomak cave does not contain stalactites, stalagmites and rocks. And this is not surprising, because marble is extremely hard and does not give such formations as the same limestone.

Grottoes of the cave

The Sugomak cave, the photo of which is presented in this material, is formed of three grottoes. The first is the brightest, since it receives natural light from outside.

The entrance to the second grotto is represented by a small slit in the rock, which is located on the left side of the entrance to the first depression. To get here, most adults have to crawl for a while. The second grotto is the most voluminous. In winter, travelers often stop here, hiding from the weather.

The last, third cave grotto is in a kind of mine. To overcome its sheer walls, travelers have to descend on a rope. The depth of the well is up to 4 meters.

How to safely inspect the third grotto, which contains the Sugomak cave? An excursion, which can be arranged by local guides, will help to cope with the task. Individual guides that lead travelers to the mountain, have all the necessary equipment for organizing the descent into the third grotto of the cave.

Neighborhood

The Sugomak cave is not the only landmark on the top of the mountain. Here is the purest spring, known as the "Marys of Tears." It is located near the entrance to the first grotto.

The water in the spring is delicious and crystal clear. Therefore, some tourists specifically go upstairs to dial it for personal needs. Quite often, newlyweds go to the spring, who arrange in such a picturesque place for a photo session.

Lake Sugomak

Sugomak cave is the main attraction of the region, which attracts travelers. However, a few kilometers from it is located not less picturesque place, where there is a mountain lake filled with drinking water. The latter occupies an area of about 2.9 km 2 . The depth of the lake reaches 2-3 m.

In the middle of the pond there are several islets. All of them in the warm season become holiday places for residents of the city of Kyshtym and visiting tourists.

The shores of the lake are formed by crystalline rocks. The approaches to the water are surrounded by lush vegetation: there are alders, willows, pines.
