Suction Hose Production Technology

Suction and fire hoses can be manufactured in several ways. Earlier, the dorn technology was used, with mandrels about 20 m long - several short sleeves were produced simultaneously. Operations were carried out on tables equipped with headers, while some operations (rolling of gaskets, rubber layers) were performed manually.

The technological process for the production of fire (rubberized) hoses consists of several stages: the preparation of rubber chambers, the preparation of fabric covers, the dragging of chambers into covers and vulcanization.

The fire hoses are vulcanized by feeding steam into the inside of the sleeve. For carrying out this operation, the ends of the sleeves are fixed on the cones of the vulcanization tables. The design of the cones has through channels, through which steam or air is supplied inside the sleeve and condensate is diverted. When carrying out vulcanization using this technology, the sleeves are subject to shrinkage, so they are vulcanized, stretching by 10-12%. Firefighting sleeves can also be manufactured by using chambers made from oil resistant rubber products, while using synthetic fiber cushions .

At the present time, the following operations can be singled out, with the use of which suction hoses are produced:

- winding the first spiral on the grinding heads and applying the first fabric padding,

- transfer of the sleeve by the transporter to the adhesive machine,

- the application and deposition of rubber and fabric layers,

- winding of the outer spiral on the grinding heads and pressing with a bandage and cord,

- vulcanization, and then loosening, unfolding and removing the sleeve from the mandrel.

Complex production of hoses is constantly being improved, and labor-intensive technological operations are mechanized. So, for example, spiral winding was mechanized. Now along the table with the mandrel the carriage moves on rollers, from which a wire is fed to the rotating sleeve on the mandrel at the required angle and with the given pitch and tension. With the same device, press the sleeve with a cord, which is fed from a rotating coil.

For the vulcanization of suction hoses, the same boilers are used as for pressure hoses.

For shooting the cord and bandage from the sleeves, special machines with a moving carriage equipped with a coil for receiving the cord are now used. Remove the suction sleeve from the mandrel, clamping one end of it in the vice, and the other securing the electric winch to the cable. In this case compressed air is supplied between the sleeve and the mandrel , while simultaneously operating the winch.

The equipment used in the production of pressure hoses is constantly being modernized. At the same time, non-wood production technologies are increasingly being used.

The main type of quality control of hoses is a hydraulic pressure test. In this case, the most revealing are the test results, in which the arms are subjected to bending, which most closely matches the operating conditions.

When controlling the strength of the hoses, the hydraulic pressure is determined, at which the sleeve breaks.

In addition, to assess the quality of hoses, they are checked for their flexibility, resistance to temperature changes and exposure to aggressive media.
