Strategic plan of the company

Since the country's economy shifted to market relations, the strategic plan and all kinds of planning were abandoned and forgotten. This fact can be explained by the fact that many businessmen and managers of large companies began to trust the "invisible hand of the market" more. At the same time, the practice of doing business made it necessary to revise this approach and return to the levers of management, including strategic planning.

First of all, I must say that the strategic plan is a document that expresses the company's long-term goals and objectives. It contains information about the state of the external environment and the internal structure of the enterprise. If we talk about the time interval, the document is developed for 10-15 years. Its basis is the so-called mission of the enterprise. This fundamental idea should be present in the plan, regardless of the scope and scope of its activities.

The strategic plan for the development of the enterprise includes three interrelated sections. In order to more clearly answer the question of what a mission of the company is, one must imagine what it will be like in these fifteen years. At present, this information is quite specifically spelled out in the statutory documents, if it is a joint-stock company or a limited liability company. Although an individual entrepreneur has the right to set himself the same tasks and outline appropriate prospects.

In practice, many businessmen reduce the strategic plan to making a profit. Of course, this is the most important characteristic of the performance of the enterprise for a certain period. As you know, there are periods when work leads to losses. There is an opinion that profit refers to purely internal problems. And to set it up as a strategic task for many years to come is not exactly an exact solution. For example, the strategic mission of the Gazprom concern is to create more comfortable conditions for people to live in.

The second point, after the main goal is set, is to formulate long-term and short-term tasks that must be solved in the process of achieving the goal. The strategic plan should contain a common focus on the development of the production base and training of personnel. Today, many companies are engaged in the production and installation of plastic windows. Many of them are content to live on current orders. More advanced, if I may say so, occupy a different position.

They are upgrading existing equipment. Expand the production area. Add new positions to the product line. In addition to the installation of windows, clients are offered installation services for stretch ceilings. And in order to expand the scope of activities, it is necessary to attract additional staff. And not just attract, but also improve their qualifications. All these and many other processes must be reflected in a document called a "strategic plan".

Here one has to make one remark. All of the above activities should be carried out in order to consolidate their presence in the market. At its core, this will be the strategic goal, which is mentioned in the plan. In the current legislation there are norms that limit the maximum market share that one company can occupy. Hence, it is possible to put just this goal. For example, you need to take 30% of the market in the production and installation of plastic windows. If this threshold is exceeded, antimonopoly mechanisms will take effect. This should not be allowed.

Taking into account this circumstance, the strategic plan should contain the third section, one that regulates the mechanism of management decisions. Everyone knows that the famous businessman Ford made important decisions on his own. At the same time, he relied on the opinions of the expert council, which acted in his company. This aspect of the activity - the decision-making mechanism - needs to be paid special attention in strategic planning.
