Stacking ceramic granite without a seam: technology and styling features

The process of laying porcelain stoneless without using a glue mixture is not difficult and can be done by a home master. If you try, then mastering this technology is easier than it may seem, and you will be able to get acquainted with the details of the finishing with ceramic granite in this article.

Getting Started: Stacking Ceramic Granite Step by Step

The variety of schemes for installing the coating is amazing. You can use any: simple, simulating a geometric pattern or parallel rows or choose a more complex of options, for example, mosaic tiling when using materials of different colors, sizes and textures.

The floor or the walls, finished with ceramic granite using the technology of laying without a seam, visually seem monolithic.

This method of mounting tile products, in view of the special physical properties, including water resistance, differs from the finishing with conventional ceramic tiles. An important moment when working with porcelain stoneware is the use of special mixtures and glue compounds.

Selection of material

The choice of ceramic granite depends on the functional purpose of the room. So, for a bath or a kitchen, products with a rough texture or embossing are suitable. The use of such tiles will help to avoid possible injuries when water gets to the floor.

The choice of material is carried out according to the caliber: the overall dimensions of the tile unit and the tone. Please note that when laying porcelain stoneless without a seam, a little more material will be required than in the case of the classical finishing method.

We prepare the base

A carefully prepared treated base is the key to successful completion of the following stages of work. The ceramic granite should lie properly on a perfectly flat surface with sufficient bearing capacity.

So on the previously leveled, completely cleaned from grease, dirt and dust, the surface of the floor or walls is applied with a primer corresponding to the type of material selected.

It is interesting that when installing ceramic granite on the floor, a board can be used as a basis, but it should not sag under the load and must freely withstand human weight. In this case, it is best to be reinsured and additionally to consolidate the substrate with reinforcing mesh.

Technique of laying ceramic granite on the floor or walls

When making any surface, when working with porcelain stoneware, as with any other material, it is necessary to observe the sequence of actions:

  • In the case of selecting a pattern with a symmetrical pattern, the installation starts from the center of the floor or wall. To observe the symmetry, pull the twine;
  • Apply glue on small areas, necessarily leveling it with a spatula;
  • Watch out if there are air bubbles in the adhesive;
  • Aligned surface of the wall (floor) with the glue already applied is worked with a notched trowel to obtain better adhesion to the material;
  • To lay ceramic granite without seams it is necessary not hurrying, checking after installation of each tile correctness by means of a level;
  • Lined finish allow to survive for 72-96 hours for the final curing of the glue, and then begin to grout the joints;
  • Grout is carried out with a rubber spatula, which is also used to remove excess mass.

Experts advise

Stacking ceramic granite without a seam is a relatively new technology in construction, working with which, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions and follow the recommendations of specialists:

  1. The substrate prepared for installation must be level, otherwise the ceramic granite will start to crack under pressure.
  2. When working with this technology, use large-size slabs of ceramic granite, for example, 600 x 600 mm. So you can minimize the number of joints.
  3. The seam between two adjacent plates plays the role of a buffer that softens the pressure applied.
  4. Use specially designed for these purposes compounds that have the ability to expand or contract under the influence of different temperature regimes. If you are going to put ceramic granite without seams, disregarding such advice can lead to tumbling of the plates during the operation of the room.
  5. There is a need to mount the material under a certain temperature regime: from +5 to +30 о С.
  6. When installing boards, the gap between them should not be more than 1 mm, which in the process is filled with a specially prepared mixture - an epoxy grout, matched to the tone of the plates.
  7. Selection of glue for the material is not less important moment. For each variety of ceramic granite, only one special glue mixture is suitable.

The technology of laying the plates back to back requires a lot of diligence and time, although the process is laborious, but the result pays for itself by one hundred percent. You can mount the porcelain stoneware on the wall without seams or on the floor. In any case, this finish looks dignified and will serve as an excellent addition to the style of the interior.

Qualitatively laid ceramic granite tiles look like a single whole, with no noticeable joints or small flaws. The effect of an ideally smooth surface can be achieved during the laying of porcelain stoneware without a seam.
