How to make soap a source of income

Soap making can turn from a hobby into a real profitable business, if you bring something unusual to make this cosmetic product. Such a highlight will be the original form, a special smell and additional coloring of the finished product with special paints.

Ordinary slabs of the classical form already surprise nobody. But figurines in the form of animals, fruits and various objects, in which it is difficult to recognize the usual means for skin cleansing, attract admiring glances and cause a desire to buy an interesting gizmo. To make such statuettes, you need special silicone molds for soap. They can be purchased at the store or made independently.

Pros and cons of using silicone molds

Silicone is convenient in that it is much easier and quicker to get the finished product out of it, and the molds occupy less space than plastic containers. Plastics sometimes have to be heated under a stream of hot water, which adversely affects the shape of the soap-shaped figure. The wet and curved cosmetic loses its appeal.

Cheap silicone molds for soap are not easy to find in stores for creativity, but even the most common ones will cost three times more expensive than plastic ones. As an alternative, soap-makers can purchase standard ice or baking molds, if they do not plan to create something unusual.

Plastic containers are not too suitable for creating a silicone mold for soap, because they crumble. In them it is better to mix small portions of silicone, weighing up to 100 g, using for this purpose small plastic knives with cut edges.

The stick for stirring the liquid must be stiff and flat. You can make this tool yourself from a simple ruler with rounded edges. To mix the dye should be stocked with a long and thin wooden stick. Recruit catalyst can be a conventional Pasteur pipette.

To fill a silicone mold for soap, you need a solid surface, for example, a thick cardboard and several sheets of thick paper. Of these, formwork walls are created. Paper napkins or towels are more convenient to use in a roll, they will need a lot. Fix the model on a cardboard basis with an adhesive gun.

Creating a silicone mold

The manufacture of a silicone mold consists of the following steps:

  1. We glue the model to the base with an adhesive gun.
  2. We make the formwork for pouring using cardboard or heavy paper: leave the gap between the model and the walls in 5-10 mm, depending on the size of the model, and glue to the base, then join the edges.
  3. We pour the main component into a separate container, measuring the right amount, according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
  4. Add a little color.
  5. After zeroing the balance, we measure the catalyst and connect it to the base.
  6. Within a minute, carefully mix the mixture until smooth.
  7. Evenly, we pour the silicone into the mold and wait for it to fully solidify.

You can extract a simple model several hours after pouring, separating the shape from the base with a sharp knife. Then it is necessary to disassemble the formwork. Complex models are best removed after a day. It remains to gently cut the edges - and the shape is ready. Now you can start making unusual soap for free or for sale.
