Sculpture of paper - the original direction in art. This kind of creativity today does not deal with so many masters. And only success in this field have been achieved and even one.

The voluminous paintings of Calvin Nicholas

The sculpture made of paper, made by this unique artist, is amazing and extremely realistic. In 1981, Calvin opened his own design studio in Toronto. And three years later he made his first experience, trying to connect his love for living nature and the craving for creativity. So a sculpture was born out of paper.

Calvin Nicholas invented his method of creating voluminous paintings, the plot of which were portraits of animals. First, it creates a paper rigid skeleton of the future object. Then the sculptor attaches small details to it: feathers, wool, scales. Each detail is given a special texture with the help of wooden and metal appliances and tools. Nicholas achieves almost one hundred percent realism, representing representatives of the animal world.

Sculpture made of paper by Piret Callesen

The name of this artist is known to the whole world today. He creates sculptures of paper with his own hands, using a combination of cuts and folding. These masterpieces are literally from a single sheet of A4 paper.

This is an incredible story scenes and some vivid images. His paintings contain a deep meaning, the fragility of the material bears romanticism in itself, emphasizes the tragedy of sculptures, shows how short-lived happiness is, how fragile human life is.

Sculptures from wet paper

Spouses Allen and Patty Ekman have developed their own unique method of creating the most real masterpieces from ordinary waste paper. The paper is delectivated in a special way and turns into a homogeneous mass. Prepare the silicone mold in which the material is stacked, compacted and then dried.

And here the masters begin the most difficult stage of work. Using a medical scalpel, artists work out every smallest detail, every crease and hair, giving the sculpture an amazing liveliness and truthfulness.

To create one masterpiece the masters takes more than a year. After all, you first need to sculpt a sculpture of plasticine or clay. Then, from it, a silicone mold is made for casting the workpiece. And this is only a preparatory stage for work.

Of course, the most difficult thing is to remove all unnecessary movements with accurate movements. Even the smallest mistake in the work can nullify all previous work, how long and painstaking it may be.

Sculptures of paper at home

Looking at the work of great masters, it seems that such an ordinary person can not do. However, you can try to do something like that. Let it not be so highly artistic, not so expertly, but from the heart.

So how to make a sculpture made of paper Most?

  • First you need to fashion a figure out of plasticine that you want to create.
  • Then the template is covered with layers of silicone sealant. The total thickness of the mold should be at least 3 cm. The procedure is carried out in two stages: the first layer must carefully fill all small cavities and slits, after drying the second layer already creates the thickness of the future mold directly. Then you need to allow the form to dry well.
  • After all this, the workpiece is neatly cut, and the clay is removed.
  • Now the paper mass is being prepared, and the form is filled in.
  • After drying, the workpiece is removed and processed with a sharp scalpel.
  • If necessary, a paint or varnish is applied to the sculpture.

There are many recipes for creating pulp. The simplest is that the paper is thoroughly soaked and crushed, squeezed, a little sifted wood ash or gypsum is added to it and kneaded like dough.

From such a mass you can not only cast sculptures, but also sculpt, as the masters do when working with clay and other materials.
