S.Ya. Marshak "Poodle": analysis of the work

Consider the work of the famous poet in more detail. In the poem, Samuel Yakovlevich Marshak often changed the poem. "Poodle" has also been edited many times. A final version of the poem is available to the modern reader. There are no lines about the comic adventure of an old lady with a poodle in the market, about the pursuit of a cat and those lines where a dog helps a tired grandmother to wash clothes. In the 1960 edition, with illustrations by MP Miturich, an option was introduced that did not change. There are lines about riding heroes of the poem from the mountain, which were not in the early editions.

"Poodle" tells about the life of an old woman and her playful poodle dog. The work consists of 18 stanzas, quatrains and pyatistish. The poem can be divided into 9 micro-totems, each of which occupies two stanzas. The first microthem introduces the heroes of the work, then each subtopic narrates about the adventures of the old lady and the tricks of her poodle. So, the second micro-topic about how the poodle was in the buffet on the platter, the third - about the poodle leprosy, which hid behind the old woman for two weeks, then the subtheme about how the poodle pretended to be dead, the fifth - about the fun of the heroes on the ice slide. The sixth part tells how the chicken pecked the dog, the seventh tells about the poodle-helper, the eighth - about the entanglement of the poodle in the thread. The ninth part is the final one. It is about how the old lady received a leash and a collar as a gift and a reaction to this poodle.

The work is written in a light rhythmic syllable. The lines rhyme crosswise. This was what S.Ya. Marshak. "Poodle" is one of the most frequently translated works.
