Sadism is what? Definition of term

Sadism is a serious psychological deviation that can fundamentally change the model of human behavior. It distorts its essence, gradually turning it into a monster that revels in the sufferings of other people. And if the progression of this disease is not stopped in time, the consequences will be appalling.

However, how does sadism arise? Cruelty ... Is not it inherent in all people? So why do some cope with it, while others succumb to temptation? And is it possible to cure a man whose heart desires to hurt others?

The first mention of sadism

In the middle of the XVIII century in France there lived a certain writer-philosopher Donaciène Alphonse François de Sade (today he is better known as Marquis de Sade). So, the meaning of his life was the propaganda of absolute freedom. The Marquis was sure that a person should not limit himself to moral, ethical or religious taboos. Moreover, in the writings of the writer it was said that the infliction of pain during sexual intercourse is quite normal. After all, only this way a person's personality could fully open, so to speak, to reset all the masks.

A little later, the work of the Marquis de Sade was thoroughly investigated by the father of sexology Richard von Craft Ebing. Based on the information received, the psychologist brought out a new type of person who wants to revel in the suffering of other people. And the phenomenon of this disorder of the psyche received a specific name - sadism (in honor of the grief-philosopher Marquis de Sade).

Sadism: Definition

Sadism is a special manifestation of human fantasies, expressed in the bodily or psychological humiliation of other people. At the core of this phenomenon lies an irresistible desire to receive moral pleasure from full control over its victim. By and large, sadism is a manifestation of pure aggression directed at the world around us.

For today in psychology it is accepted to divide this deviation into three big categories: sexual and psychological sadism, and also autosadism. And although all these diseases have one common root, their symptoms and manifestations are very different from each other.

Physical and sexual sadism

Alas, but in our society there are people who enjoy the infliction of bodily injuries and wounds to others. However, most of them understand that such behavior is sadism. But they can not stop, because otherwise their life will lose all meaning, there will be no place for joy in it.

The peculiarity of sexual sadism is that it can manifest itself in many forms. So, if one is enough games with handcuffs and whips, then the second can not do without causing serious strokes and cuts. It is the latter that deserve increased attention and control by doctors.

It should also be remembered that corporal sadism extends not only to members of the opposite sex. This is due to the fact that the person is not excited by the sexuality of the partner, but by the pain that the sadist can inflict on him. Therefore, its victims can be both women and men, and also - even worse - children.

Sadism: torture and mutilation

If sexual sadism reaches its final apogee, then a person in the literal sense of the word will turn into a monster. An irresistible passion for violence will push him to horrific deeds, which sooner or later lead to human casualties. After all, sadists are somewhat similar to drug addicts: both of them always increase the dose in order to increase the threshold of pleasure.

The final stage of this form of sadism is torture and severe disability. And although such a manifestation of violence is punishable by law, most sadists still lend themselves to this temptation. And then only prison can stop this beast. But, unfortunately, by the time of the discovery of the sadistic personality, a considerable number of victims have already been registered on his account.

Psychological sadism

Moral sadism is a manifestation of the psychological aggression of a person aimed at humiliating other people. For example, it can manifest itself in the form of bullying, insults, evil jokes and threats. This kind of perversion is directed at the spirituality of the victim, thereby distorting her inner world.

Unlike corporal, psychological sadists often know how to hide their essence well. They skillfully manipulate people, rubbing them into trust and playing on their feelings. Such power multiplies their pleasure by making them very happy. But worst of all, is that such people often seek to get a high position in the company, in order to recoup their subordinates.

Autosadism

Sometimes it happens that sadism and masochism go hand in hand. In this case, a person can be both an aggressor and a victim in one person. For example, some sadists enjoy the fact that they cut their arms, legs or torso. Naturally, such tortures are limited to reasonable limits, if any of them can be called "reasonable".

And yet in this tandem dominant will always be sadism. And therefore, over time, a person can switch his aggression to other people. And then autosadism in an instant will turn into a progressive form of sexual violence.

The causes of sadistic inclinations

In 1968, the screens of Japanese film director Teruo Ishii's "The Shadow of Siguna: The Joy of Torture" was released. The plot of the tape was not particularly intriguing, but the executions depicted in it terrified even the most persistent moviegoers. And looking at this whole nightmare, you can not help wondering where does such a thirst for violence come from in a person?

To begin with, most psychological deviations begin in early childhood. In the case of sadistic inclinations, blame for everything can be wrong education. For example, if a child constantly encounters aggression within his family, he begins to perceive it as an analogy of love. In the future, such an individual will not be able to distinguish the line between violence and affection - for him it will be absolutely the same thing.

However, sometimes a psychological trauma or a disease becomes a fundamental factor. Suppose that if a person is severely humiliated or insulted, then he himself may want to assert himself in a similar way. In this case, his revenge will not apply to a particular offender, but to the whole world as a whole.

Treatment of sadistic inclinations

Do not once again remind about what can lead to sadism. Photos of mutilated victims and so often quite often fall on the pages of news blocks and articles. We will confine ourselves only to the fact that this disorder of the psyche should be treated without fail. What is true, it will be very difficult to do this.

The only way out is a long work with a psychologist, during which a person will be helped to understand what kind of framework he should not go out for. However, this method works only when the patient himself wants to get rid of his sadistic inclinations. After all, otherwise such treatment of positive results can not bring.
