In the second variant, the new cathedral was to take the place of the Red Courtyard of the Court on the west side of the bell tower.

What the Cathedral looks like today

The Transfiguration Cathedral is a five-domed church with a central dome. Above its central part rises a majestic spherical dome, which holds the spring-loaded arches, thrown over the heptagonal pillars. At the corners of the main space are small light domes. Over the refectory and other parts of the cathedral rise cylindrical vaults. The outline of the cathedral is a cross, enclosed in a square. Around the central room are harmoniously arranged side naves, at the end of which there are six-column front porticos and wide staircases and an altar. On the west side, the central nave connects with the gallery - the refectory, which on the other hand joins the bell tower. At the same time, about 4 thousand people can stay in the cathedral.

The decorations of the temple belong to the era of late classicism and have sufficiently expressive details. The real decoration of the temple are the windows. Below they have an arched appearance, and above - round. On the porticos - pilasters and columns of the Corinthian order. On light drums - Corinthian half-columns. Initially, the cathedral was decorated with frescoes, which, unfortunately, were not preserved. The iconostasis has also changed.
