Roles and actors. "Paranormal phenomenon: Mark of the devil"

A nice and original addition in the sense of innovation to the popular cycle "Paranormal phenomenon 5: The Devil's Mark" to the best episodes of the franchise, unfortunately, is not enough, but the film is definitely more successful than the fourth part.

Not really spin-off

Although the "Mark" is positioned as a spin-off "Paranormal phenomenon" (like "Nights in Tokyo"), this is not entirely correct. The film corresponds to the main plot story of the cycle, it is linked to the events of the original picture and there is a cameo in which the participants of the previous parts, the actors familiar to the audience, were lit. "The paranormal phenomenon: Mark of the Devil" did not officially receive a deserved serial number, perhaps because the action was transferred to the Latin ethnic area, whose inhabitants are owners of violent disposition. All their problems they are accustomed to solve with the use of weapons. This fact, by the way, can be called one of the most unexpected, witty and amusing innovations of the cycle. This "Paranormal phenomenon" - a film whose actors do not depict unfortunate victims, their heroes will not be helpless to expect reprisals.

Plot

The main character of the picture - yesterday's schoolboy Jessie (Andrew Jacobs), with a friend Hector (Jorge Diaz) happily burns life in the Latin quarter of the American provincial town Oxnard, California. Once the attention of friends attracts a mysterious woman who lives next door. This is Anna (Gloria Sandoval), who leads a solitary way of life and is known among local witches.

After a while, the police find a woman dead, suspicions of murder are falling on former classmate Oscar's friends. Guys without thinking twice dare to visit the apartment of the deceased. There, the teens discover traces of magical rituals and a photograph of Jesse. Among other things, there are videotapes (the same entries by Christie and Cathy) and a spell book.

According to the events described, you can guess that this is a "Paranormal phenomenon" - a film whose actors (not all, but Cathy Featherstone accurately) migrated from the previous parts. In the morning the protagonist wakes up with a trace of a bite on his hand, the character of the guy changes, the hero becomes gloomy and cruel. Now he is marked by a dark force. This is the plot intrigue of the fifth part of the cycle "Paranormal phenomenon". Actors and roles of this episode were selected to each other taking into account age indices and level of dramatic skill.

"Label" - as "Expulsion"

Co-author of the script and director of the film was the permanent Christopher Landon, it is thanks to his participation that the picture is not an alien cycle. Although Landon experimented extensively, moving away from the traditional franchise scheme. In the movie there are no suspicious rustles, alarming squeaks, clues and inscriptions. There are also hidden cameras that constantly remove empty rooms and all the phenomena that occur in them: the movement of furniture, the doors that close themselves. Horror "Paranormal phenomenon 5: Mark of the devil" became similar to "The Last Exile of the Devil". Now it's a chronicle of the obsession of the protagonist, the process of losing Jesse's human image filmed on the subjective camera.

Roles and actors

"Paranormal: The Devil's Mark" gave the viewer new heroes who came to replace the characters of the fourth episode, who showed themselves not on the best side. The change of characters turned out to be more than successful. The duet of performers starring Andrew Jacobs and Jorge Diaz critics called the main success of the creation of Christopher Landon.

Despite the small experience in cinematography, the guys played naturally and reliably. Nominally the paramount hero is Jesse performed by Andrew Jacobs, most of the events occur with his direct participation. Well, his friend Hector (Jorge Diaz) acted as the operator of the history of reincarnation. He rarely gets in the frame, but the actor's enthusiasm and energy were transferred not only to the hero, but also to the spectators.

In addition to the main characters, attention is drawn to Jesse's sister, Marisol Vargas. Actress Gabriel Walsh managed to create an emotional and emotional image of a sympathetic and effective girl. Pretty grandmother Jessie (Renee Victor) also impresses with determination and fearlessness. Fans of the franchise will be delighted with the role of the main star of the project Cathy Featherstone. Her character Kathy in childhood was played by the sweet little girl Chloe Xenjeri, the girl was spoiled on the set by all the actors. "Paranormal: The Devil's Mark" will give the viewer a meeting with the modest Mika Sloth, the same Kathy's boyfriend from the first and second parts. It is impossible not to notice the appearance in the film of Ellie Ray, played by Molly Ephraim. Carlos Pratts in the image of the unfortunate Oscar looked organically, but not masterpiece, however, like Catherine Torbio as Penelope.

Excellent foundation

The picture "Paranormal phenomenon: Mark of the devil" reviews received mixed, but much more positive than the previous part. The fourth episode was the weakest in the cycle - history was entangled in three pines, the mythology was over, the climax was disappointing. The fifth part is the chance to turn the story in a new direction, to diversify the podnadoevshuyu and frankly bored formula. This is a decent foundation for the continuation of the franchise, the basis for future parts.

Unsinkable saga about horror

No matter how outraged detractors, the franchise "The phenomenon" in the history of the film industry is a curious phenomenon in all respects, so the creators do not complete it, a fifth may not be the final one. Moreover, when assessing the visual component of the picture, it is possible to state with certainty (this is confirmed also by the actors) - "Paranormal phenomenon: Mark of the devil" had a budget several times higher than the previous episodes. The manner of shooting has remained traditionally sloppy, but the horrifying make-up and special effects are pretty decent and impressive. Therefore, the fifth part can be considered surprisingly cinematic in terms of the genre of "found films." This is the first part, which is felt during the viewing as a full-length film of a large caliber. Therefore, this part can be viewed boldly for everyone who is interested, even unfamiliar with the main story.
