Risk assessment and its need

Every day of our lives, without realizing it, we are in great danger. In everyday routine, we simply forget about it. Understanding and assessing risk quite often helps to avoid a lot of problems, especially in the field of business or industrial production. The general definition of this concept states that it is a process aimed at studying and identifying actions, situations or events that can adversely affect your performance in making decisions.

Risk assessment, regardless of focus, includes all aspects. Even those variants are counted, the probability of which is theoretically unlikely. In business, it is commonly believed that qualitative analysis consists of finding the cause of the risk, identifying its sources and subsequent steps or works that will help reduce it or completely reduce it to zero. At an early stage, risk assessment is considered the most important for any entrepreneur or investor, because it can fully show how dangerous the next project is and what tests are waiting for it. Experienced businessmen will no doubt say that this indicator reflects how successful their project will be.

Today there are many methodologies, tools and approaches for studying this factor, but the basic part remains practically unchanged and consists of the following steps:

- Identify a possible risk zone.

- Detection and assessment of the risk associated with the further activities of the firm.

- Calculation of negative consequences.

- Reflecting the benefits when eliminating risk and its consequences.

Quantitative risk assessment is present in each of the listed stages. Calculations with the subsequent numerical display allow not only to see the percentage probability of occurrence of any one of the events, but also to disclose the whole picture.

After summarizing the analysis, the risk assessment is carried out, which is the final stage and allows determining the feasibility of the whole project or the decision being made.

We already talked about the basic part, but now it's time to understand the existing methodologies. The risk assessment is divided into only three main schools:

- Statistical methods.

- Analytical.

- The method of expert evaluation.

Each of them has many directions, technologies and approaches. It is worth noting that each risk assessment with the help of these methods has its own specifics and, accordingly, the final results. Some are aimed at predicting the adoption of managerial decisions, others are aimed at identifying the degree of risk when acquiring company securities, etc. Only a specific setting of a goal or task will allow one to choose one of the methods or conduct a whole range of activities. In any case, if you want to see objective data and do not regret the decision, the best option is to turn to professionals. Today, the market there are many expert firms of this focus, offering their services in a different price category.
