Modern management tools: BPM-systems

No sooner had domestic leaders become accustomed to the abbreviation CRM (a business strategy aimed at identifying and understanding the needs of current and future customers), as there was another very important management tool - the BMP system, which is also desirable to take over, until they beat the competition.

So, what are the bpm systems? In the abbreviation "BPM", the first letter means "business", the second one is "performance", and the third, as you probably already guessed, is "management". Combining all these three words together we will receive "business performance management" or "business process management system".

BPM-systems are aimed at maintaining a full cycle of management process and allow to automate as much as possible such important and necessary management functions as planning and control. The cornerstone of such systems is the business process. This term is called a definite, measurable set of operations or tasks, which is aimed at creating the final product of the company.

Examples of typical business processes include business planning, budgeting, account opening, execution of a production order, transportation, forecasting the amount of orders from potential customers , etc.

Someone can say that from the definition of business processes in the company there is no benefit and all this only leads to unnecessary time wasted, however, such an opinion will be fundamentally wrong. Business processes can achieve increased productivity, which in turn leads to a reduction in production costs and increased profits. BPM-systems allow these processes to be streamlined and automated. Due to their use, work is performed more productively and with minimal loss of time.

BPM-systems operate on the basis of a data warehouse, which contains all the quantitative and financial information of the enterprise. The introduction of such a system makes it much easier to make decisions in such matters as:

  • Strategic planning, setting of basic efficiency criteria;
  • The formulation of tactical tasks;
  • Monitoring and monitoring the implementation of plans;
  • Regulation and analysis of results.

Typically, the BPM-system consists of a traditional set of elements responsible for the design, implementation and monitoring. Designing is a detailed development of the scheme of each business process. The implementation is monitored by the "engine" of the system - BPM Engine. It is responsible for starting the processes, monitoring their changes, and executing the specified rules.

Monitoring of processes is carried out with the help of graphic images or statistical data. Thanks to the reports containing all the parameters of the processes, it is very easy to evaluate their effectiveness.

The use of the BPM system is advantageous in that it speeds up the performance of production tasks, improves the quality of business processes, makes it easier to make decisions and find ways to improve a particular process. In addition, the modeling and focus on the result allows the company to become more flexible, and therefore more competitive.

Thanks to all these moments, BPM systems have become very popular among many large companies and organizations.
