Rim-nut - classification, purpose, construction

The eye-nut is a mechanism designed to lift, lower and hold the weight of a cargo, a product and its components with a large equipped weight. Often this mechanism, along with the eye bolt, is used in the transportation of automobile engines, drives and containers. Also, this tool is used in construction during assembly and rigging works. Design

By its design, the eye-nut is a monolithic metal product, which includes two components - a nut and a rim. The last detail is a steel spherical ring that connects blocks, cables, chains or stretches. In this case, the outer end of the nut has a flat shape.

Material

Most often, the eye-nut of GOST is made of high-quality carbon austenitic steel such as AISI 304. In some cases, it is additionally treated with a layer of stainless steel in order to protect the device from the negative effects of the external environment (corrosion protection). In addition, in the Russian market there are devices made of steel type AISI 316 with stamping or forging. Nuts can be additionally treated with a protective layer of galvanized steel.

How is it used?

Before removing one or another element, which is a load for the eye-nut, it is necessary to screw the nut of the device beforehand. After this element is tightly screwed onto the rod, you can safely proceed to use it. It is also worth noting that the nut can be attached to the plane of the lifted products. For example, this may be the top or the side of the device.

Marking of eye-bolts

The eye-nut, like the eyebolts, has its own marking. The classification of these devices is more extensive than that of similar bolts. Each of the markings (this can be a value of M6 ... M48) has its own thread size, while the inner ring size can be 20 ... 90 millimeters, respectively. The most popular devices are parts M10, M12 and M16.

Technical Characteristics of Lifting Capacity

It is worth noting that, despite its small size, the eye-nut has a very high lifting capacity. Even the smallest devices with an internal diameter of a ring of 20 millimeters can safely transport and lift loads of up to 140 kilograms Ternally. The most loaded is the M48 nut with a ring diameter of 90 millimeters. Such a tool is able to lift almost any product with a mass of up to 8-8.5 tons (but not more than 8600 kilograms).

The price of this device also depends on the marking and diameter of the rim - the connecting ring. On average, products that are used on the farm (this is a device series M10 ... M16) can be purchased at a price of 30 to 45 rubles per unit. 90 mm nuts are not sold in every store, because they are used exclusively for industrial purposes.
