Restaurant "Turandot" in Moscow

In December 2005, the restaurant "Turandot" opened in Tverskoi Boulevard in Moscow. It quickly became a popular and fashionable place, visited not only for a tasty meal, but also to admire the chic interior. Now the restaurant "Turandot" Moscow considers one of its main attractions, and no less significant than, say, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Kremlin or the Bolshoi Theater.

The space in two floors, hidden behind the walls of the house number 26, which is on Tverskoy Boulevard, was made out a little less than five years, and the restaurant project itself was created more than six years. It is worth saying that the mansion in which the restaurant "Turandot" is located before the beginning of construction work was a pile of bricks and concrete. Only the facade of the building remained intact, recalling the long past of this house. And there is something to remember! In 1799 the mansion was bought by the favorite of Catherine II herself, the famous rich man, Adjutant General Ivan Rimsky-Korsakov. Then the house became a school of the stage movement, it taught good manners and dances. And already in our century the transformed building became a restaurant with an unusual name "Turandot".

To understand where this name comes from, it is enough to recall the play by Karl Gozzi, telling about the love of the Tatar prince named Calaf and the Chinese princess Turandot. The romantic story of their relationship is reflected in the aura of the institution. Here, from a boring reality, you get into a fairy tale.

The restaurant "Turandot" is decorated in the Baroque style in its late appearance. It could well be a museum, since, going inside, you can see and Venetian antique mirrors, and French tapestries - wall carpets of the eighteenth century, and German porcelain, and English watches, and forged grates made by Tula craftsmen. Here you will see a fireplace of the early twentieth century, which is an exact copy of the Versailles fireplace of the era of King Louis XVI. All this luxury combines harmoniously with the bar, which is a real work of art.

On the ground floor the restaurant "Turandot" offers guests to immerse themselves in the comfortable atmosphere of the lounge, on the second floor a classic restaurant is opened. If desired, you can book private rooms on both floors.

Restaurant "Turandot", the menu of which is regularly updated, offers European and Asian cuisine. Here you can taste both numerous traditional dishes, and exclusive author's. Nontrivial flavor combinations and exotic ingredients are the highlight of the establishment. Waiters right in the restaurant building attend the lessons of ballroom dancing, where the minuet is taught. This helps them feel part of the eighteenth century, because they have to serve dishes popular in those times.

"Turandot" - a fashionable institution, always surprising its visitors. In this place, you can comfortably hold both a business meeting and a noisy party of friends. Sometimes the restaurant "Turandot" pleases its guests with jazz evenings.
