  • Damaged gaskets or loosened crankcase cover bolts, replacement of the gasket or tightening of the bolts is required.

5. Occurrence of extraneous sounds in the steering mechanism. Causes:

  • There is no oil in the crankcase - eliminating the cause of leaking oil and pouring a new one,
  • The working surfaces of the roller and the worm are destroyed - replacement of defective parts.

6. The tires of the front wheels were worn (spots appeared):

  • Weakened the fastening of the steering parts - checking and tightening the parts,
  • The appearance of play in the ball joints of the steering trapezium - adjustment and replacement of ball joints,
  • Dropped tire pressure - setting the normal pressure,
  • Adjustment of the steering mechanism is required.

7. The appearance of vibration and shocks, palpable on the steering wheel:

  • Adjustment of the steering mechanism is required,

Repair of steering gear

Self repair of the GAZ-3110 helmsman is to disassemble the mechanism, check the technical condition of the parts and reverse the assembly.

Disassembly

Disassembly includes the following stages:

  • Removal of the steering mechanism from the car and its clamping in soft vice,

  • Removing the thrust ring of the bushing and removing the bushing of the lath with the ring.

After the mechanism is dismantled, you need to check the technical state of the parts:

  • Rinse all parts (metal) and the crankcase cavity of the mechanism with kerosene, rinse all rubber parts with warm water and wipe with a rag,
  • Carefully inspect all working surfaces of gears and slats for wear and damage (scuffing, risks), with minor damages can be handled independently by taking a fine-grained sandpaper or velvet file, badly damaged and worn out parts will have to be replaced,
  • The ball bearing must be checked for seizing, the rotation must be free, and all rings, balls, clips and rollers must be checked - there should be no signs of wear and seizure, if there is any doubt, the bearings should be replaced,
  • It is necessary to check the protective covers of the rail, the external tips, the cap, the cuff of the gear and the bushing of the lath, with cracks, tears or loose fitting of the parts, they must be replaced with new ones,
  • Check ball joint clearances for backlash, dirt, corrosion, replace them.

Ignition system repair

Very often, problems are caused by oxidation of contacts in the system. As a result, the network is broken and the engine is malfunctioning.

To check the ignition system, you need to disconnect one high-voltage wire from the candle and bring it closer to the mass (any place on the block or body, protected from paint) by 6-8 mm.

In order not to expose yourself to danger, the wire can be fixed with the help of handy dry materials (for example, wooden ones). When the engine is cranked by a starter, a spark should appear, if it is not present, the fault is connected to low or high voltage circuits. Special equipment can help to find a malfunction: voltmeter, ohmmeter, special stroboscope. If they are not present, then the low voltage circuit is checked using an automotive bulb. It is important to remember that the electrical circuit after the ignition is checked when the ignition is switched on. You need to start from the battery and go throughout the low voltage circuit. At the point where there is no voltage, it is necessary to clean the ends of the wires and the connection surface. If the position is not corrected, the wire or the device installed before the point is faulty.

The high voltage circuit must be cleaned of dirt and wiped off all wires. Check all wires for tight contact with candles and coil sockets. The center wire should be checked for a spark, if it is not there, then a malfunction in the ignition coil, it will have to be replaced. In the event that a spark appears after the coil, you need to check the central electrode, slider and contacts.

Problems in the power system

In case of poor fuel supply, first of all, it is necessary to check the gas pipeline for the formation of a steam plug (it often occurs in hot weather and blocks the access of fuel). This problem is solved easily - you can cool the pipeline with a wet rag or just wait for the engine to cool down. In winter, the problem may be due to the freezing of the water that has got into the fuel, it is possible to heat the gas pipeline with the help of hot water.

If you do not hear the buzz of the gasoline pump, then it is possible to burn the fuse (replacement will be required) or the failure of the gasoline pump itself. It can be sorted or replaced.

To check the operation of the gasoline pump, it is necessary to detach the fuel hose from the carburetor and lower it into a clean container. When the starter starts, a gasoline should run from the hose. If this does not happen, the diaphragm or pump valves may be damaged.

Thus, repair of GAZ-3110 is possible and in "garage conditions" with the appropriate skills and tools.
