Quiling paintings: a master class for beginners (photo)

Quite unusual in its beauty are quiling paintings. The master class was chosen specially for beginner needlewomen. You will learn how to do not only flat, but also solid panels. In the latter version, the quilling flowers can be used as a decorative bouquet.

The Azi of Needlework

Quilling is the twisting of paper strips in certain elements, from which "collected" pictures. For this handicraft special paper is sold, cut into narrow strips. It differs from other species in density, which affects the stability of the shape of the elements. A special tool for quilling can be replaced with a toothpick and a ruler with different circles.

From what elements are quilling patterns created for beginners?

  • "Tight roll". Round the edge of the strip, insert it into the toothpick, wind it in a ball. The other end is glued to the PVA and removed from the toothpick. From such a roll, the core of the flowers is made. And if you push out its middle, forming a "cone", then you can get a berry.
  • "Free Roll". Also twist the paper on the toothpick. Take off the resulting roll and put it in the circle of the ruler. So the element takes the size of the circle. Stick the other end of the roll. From it and form different shapes.
  • "The Curly". Bend the strip in half. From each edge do a roll. Stick the end.

Items from a free roll

We continue to consider the main elements of which make quilling patterns with their own hands.

  • "A drop". Free roll lightly squeezes into an oval, press the edge, getting a petal. Of these elements, round flowers are created. If the "drop" is curved from one side along the length, then an element with an inclination will be obtained.
  • "Eye". Squeeze the roll from two sides - you get a sharp sheet.
  • "Sheet". If the ends of the "eye" bend in opposite directions, then you can make a curved sheet.
  • "Rhombus". Corners "eyes" squeeze in opposite directions, forming a square.
  • "Triangle". The round part of the drop must be flattened in the form of a triangle. Compression "free roll" in three places, you can get an equilateral figure.
  • "The hollow petal". Take the "triangle" by the top, pressing its base inward. From such petals bells are obtained.
  • "Semicircle". The base of the "free roll" is made even, holding the opposite corners.
  • "Arrow". If you make a "triangle" from the "drop" and then squeeze the bottom in half, forming sharp corners, you will get petals for cornflowers.

Secrets of Quilling

Each master has his own secrets on making elements, patterns and figures. Some needlewomen use the comb to form a multi-layered flower or butterfly wing when weaving the strips . Or in the foam plastic sticks are stuck in the pattern and braided with stripes, creating interesting curves and patterns. So you can create "zigzag" leaves like roses, grapes, maples.

From simple petals of different colors, you can make unusual quilling patterns. Pencil draw the borders of grass, trunk, crown and fill the sheet with "petals", "curls," "eyes," "leaves."

If you combine several colors in one element, you can make a brighter drawing. Mixing shades allows you to make the picture more realistic. To keep the elements in shape, they can be pasted on the edge with a strip. This method allows you to fix the desired bend. Many masters do butterflies, oak leaves.

Lush flowers can be obtained from elements made of paper-plastic. For example, to "tight roll" wind a wide strip, one edge of which is cut into thin petals. End the glue, remove the workpiece, and spread the petals.

Quiling paintings: a master class on lilacs

A three-dimensional image will attract attention at a glance. Bulk work can be created from improvised materials, using several layers. Let's get acquainted with the master class on making lilacs.

From the lilac paper, make the petals an element of the "eye". Part glue flowers in three and four parts. The other half is suitable for correcting the plot. Use a few shades of lilac, and decorate the middle with a yellow bead. So the flower will turn out more colorful.

On the cardboard, draw small and large sheets of lilac. Make crescents ("eye" from two sides bend into a semicircle). Arrange the elements on the template, connect them together. The edges of the sheet are covered with a strip, passing into the trunk.

Mark the location of the branches of the lilac. Glue the skewers or wire. First, work on the bottom layer, and then make a foreground. If you want to create a composition, draw a background or glue a vase. Flowers try to make small, then the lilac will look like real.

With the help of a color print, "natural" quilling patterns are created. You can see a photo of the finished master class below.

Color Game

Print allows you to create not just a panel, but a real picture. If you can draw, you can make a background yourself. Paper choose from the photo, then the plot will be 100% natural colors. For example, you want to represent the autumn rowan. Buy paper of green, marsh, brown, yellow, red, orange.

Dark figures are located in the background or on the shady side. Light shades are placed in front, on a lighter background. If there is a white spot on the part, we recommend that you resort to one of the following techniques (this is how many quilling patterns are created). The master class provides three options for solving the problem.

  • You connect a figure from several elements. For example, a sheet of mountain ash is glued on a strip (branch) of seven "eyes" of different shades.
  • Make an element of different colors. For example, the same row of ashberry is entirely made of green paper, and only in the middle of some elements is a light shade.
  • The whole picture is made of white paper, and then painted with colors.

Some elements are pasted with rhinestones, a microbiisor. In order to keep three-dimensional details in shape (flowers, leaves, animals), you can apply a transparent glue on the wrong side or paint the top layer with special glue-paint.

Quiling paintings: a master class for beginners

  1. Mark the location of the vase and flowers with a pencil.
  2. Cut out the foam from the shape of the vase, tighten it with a cloth, and decorate it with a braid.
  3. Glue to the sheet.
  4. For twigs, leaves from the elements "eye" and "leaf", as well as flowers from "cones", which are made with the help of "tight roll", are needed.
  5. On the stem you glue the flowers with a convex side, like that of a lupine.
  6. Have the leaves.
  7. Make some long branches that you insert into the foam. From these flowers you will get a magnificent bouquet, and not just quilling pictures (a photo with a blue lupine).
  8. Glue short stems and from above "build up" flowers with leaves.
  9. Then insert the finished flowers into the foam base. Make the work in the frame.

Quilking patterns are produced in this way. Flowers on this plan can be done almost any. For example, glue the stalk of the sepals in the form of a cone. In it, put the petals in a circle, and decorate the middle with a "tight roller".

Ideas for a panel or postcards from cones

The vine is made from "convex rolls" (a tight ball is slightly extended, forming the shape of the bowl). Paste the berries in several layers. The branch and antennae form from a spiral. Leaves just cut out of paper, crushing in places of veins.

Acorns are made of two cones. One forms the fruit, and from the "cup" the pericarp is made. Inside are glued wire twigs. The leaves are collected according to the template of the oak leaf. That is, connect the "eyes" with each other, and glue the edges of a piece of paper, adjusting the shape of the sheet.

Rosehip is also made of two long cones. From one side, insert a bundle of fine wire or stripes, and attach the stem from the other. Leaves cut out of paper or form out of "eyes".

Ball-shaped flowers are collected from long cones. The first row is glued in a circle, on it you put a new layer. When the ball is formed, the middle becomes convex. In the last row insert the cones, forming half the figure. From hemispheres you make flower quilling patterns. The master class on the formation of the whole ball must be repeated. That is, flip the hemisphere and glue it in rows of cones.

Summary results

Quilling is convenient because one and the same image can be represented in different ways. For example, the pussy will gather from white "eyes" and marshy hollow petals. The branch is represented by a piece of paper. And you can experiment with cones and build bulky "bunnies."
