Memorial complex Lysaya Gora (Volgograd) - remember our history

The Bald Mountain (Volgograd) is a mass grave, which was erected after the fighting in this territory. It is located near the Soviet district, or rather, on its outskirts, affecting also the territory of the Kirov part. Here the memorial is open to the winds; It is impossible to find vegetation and around the grave there is a ground, sprinkled with a thick layer of sand.

The bald mountain is the highest point of Volgograd. Its height reaches 145 meters. Climbing its top, you can see a beautiful city as if on its palm. In wartime, it also happened that more than 50 thousand soldiers and several hundred officers took part in the battle from all sides. Tanks, mortars, artillery - everything stood on this earth. And now the war reminds the residents of the memorial complex "Bald Mountain" (Volgograd).

Memory of the deceased

Quite often you can hear how Bald Mountain is compared to the hill Mamayev Kurgan. This is due to the fact that once there were fighting for the city, which even then was called Stalingrad. Already at that time the future memorial symbol was considered an important object.

The Battle of Stalingrad

Defense in 1942 was held by the 64th Army, which was headed by General Shumilov MS When the fighting began, the fascists began to cross the Volga River. After several successful battles for the enemy on February 14, the Germans still capture the height. However, it did not take long to rejoice. Soviet troops, having made an attempt to drop the army of Germany, make a counterattack and force the Germans to withdraw. After a while reinforcements come to the aid of the fascists. Opponents again capture the height of "Bald Mountain" (Volgograd), and with it the western slope. After a while, this territory becomes a strong enough protective point.

The Soviet Union took two unsuccessful attempts to attack. Sturm constantly "fought off" the German troops. And in the fall of 1942 (October), the Red Army begins a counterattack against the Nazis, thereby preventing the enemy from even the chance to inflict the latter - a decisive blow to Stalingrad. For seven days, the Germans could not repel the attack, and they have to change course from the offensive on defense.

This is how the battle for Volgograd passed. The Soviet district, Lysaya Gora (including) were released on January 17, 1943. This joyful event was preceded by strong attacks and counterattacks by the Red Army. But after the defeat of the strong points, the Germans had nothing to do but retreat. Only 147 days the young guys and officers had to defend their height.

Creation of a memorial complex

In 1968, the government decided to erect a memorial complex. Since that moment the Bald Mountain (Volgograd) is an important symbolic object for the city and for the Russian Federation. The memorial is at an altitude of more than 140 m. Here you can pray and weep for the fighters of the 64th Army Shumilov. On November 4 of the same year a special obelisk was opened, which is made of bricks and concrete. On it are written the words of support, sorrow and regret, as well as the praise of exploits, which will forever remain immortal. Next to the stove there is a special block, on which the scheme of the army's operation is carved from January 10 to February 2. If you look closely, the Bald Mountain (Volgograd) has small tiles, where symbolic objects (five-pointed star) are drawn. They are made in order to highlight the most brutal fights for the people, in which not one thousand people died.

The soldiers are on the eastern slope, very near the grove. In 1973, the government installed a monument here, a height of 4 meters. It is made of marble. On it a tablet is cut out, where it is described, whose bodies are resting here. The Orthodox cross stands near the memorial since 2001. It was established by the Russian people, who himself expressed a desire to establish a cross.

Features of the monument

The words are specially carved on the monument so that generations will see and honor the memory of those who saved their lives, did not give the Russian territory to the Germans and defended it to the last ... Every year thousands of thousands of people come to the monument near the obelisk, where the soldiers who died in the battles of people. The bald mountain (Volgograd) saw everything: blood, and tears, and joy, and sadness. The flowers are constantly covered by these territories. Nobody spares money for lush bouquets of carnations. After all, everyone understands who owes such a beautiful city - Volgograd.

Reconstruction of events

Several years ago, the city's leadership decided to reconstruct all the events that took place in the battle for Stalingrad. To look at the "representation" came more than half of the city. A particularly large number was pensioners and elderly people, direct descendants of the deceased. The leaders were able to create the atmosphere of one of the terrible days of the war. Everything was so realistically shown that, even in some moments, pieces of land from the rupture of fake mines flew to the spectators (although everything looked realistic enough). At all spectators, these shots, seen live, made a strong impression, which for a long time hammered into the corner of the soul and disturbs to this day.

Shooting a movie

Most likely, because of the reconstruction of those events, after a while the film crew came here to film a documentary. After its release, Lysaya Gora (Volgograd) became known throughout Eurasia. How to get there, you can see on the map, because this place is marked on local atlases. In extreme cases, you can ask the local residents. Nobody will refuse a request to find a memorial building.

Vasily Zaitsev - a documentary was made about him. He became famous throughout the Soviet Union due to the fact that he was one of the best snipers of the Red Army. It was not difficult to fully reflect the reality of the events, since trenches of those times are still preserved here.
