Primer AK 070. Main properties and scope

From the state of individual aggregates, the condition of the goods transported and the life of people can sometimes depend. Therefore, various compositions are used for reliability, one of which is AK 070. It is a primer that protects metal structures from the action of aggressive factors.

The product is a solution of acrylic resin, in which organic solvents, pigments, additives and plasticizers of yellow color are added.

Good adhesion, resistance to the effects of atmospheric factors, temperature resistance and strength to mechanical damage - these are the main properties that the primer AK 070 has.

The average consumption is 90-100 grams per square meter. Depending on the surface, this figure can vary. The theoretical consumption of the primer per 1 square meter of surface is 65-120 grams per layer. At the same time, one liter of the substance is sufficient for priming 8-15 square meters.

The main characteristics of the composition are:

• Corrosion protection.

• Withstands sudden temperature changes and sun exposure.

• Resistance to oil products, oils and acid solutions.

• It dries quickly even at room temperature.

A low viscosity level allows the use of the product without the addition of solvents.

AK 070 is a primer with a penetrating effect, that is, it impregnates the material to a depth of up to 10 centimeters. Therefore, the mixture is perfectly suitable for processing the outer parts of metals and alloys.

Application area

Primer AK 070 (GOST 25718-83) is used to protect against the influence of harmful factors on the construction of steel of all kinds, as well as alloys manufactured on the basis of aluminum, copper, magnesium, titanium.

A high level of adhesion allows the use of the product indoors and outdoors.

It is used in various areas:

• Shipbuilding.

• Production of machinery (cars, construction, agricultural, railway).

• Aircraft building.

• Manufacture of machine tools and machines.

• Buildings of metal and steel.

• Household appliances and equipment.

• Construction of buildings and structures.

• Instrument making and radio engineering.

Application

Primer AK 070 is applied to a previously prepared surface. To do this, remove the rust (if any), remove the dust. The surface is degreased.

Apply a primer with a brush or spray method.

Before use, the product is thoroughly mixed until the primer is uniform.

If necessary, the addition of a solvent to the formulation is allowed, but not more than 15 percent of the volume. Solvents of the brands 648 or 5A are used.

To work with a primer, choose a dry day, without fog and precipitation. When direct sunlight hits the work surface, it is necessary to obscure the surface. This will allow the composition to be absorbed evenly into the material.

Primer AK 070 is applied in several layers. Usually two are enough. Drying time depends on weather conditions and varies from 10 minutes (at 30 degrees) to 3 hours (at a temperature of 5 degrees).

When working indoors, it is necessary to ensure ventilation to evaporate volatiles. It is artificially not recommended to raise the air temperature. Otherwise, a film forms on the surface, which will not allow the solvent to evaporate from the composition.

On top of the primer layer, a layer of paintwork is applied (PF, AK, PL, GF, HS, etc.).

Safety and expiration date

Acrylic primer AK 070 is a flammable substance. Therefore, when working with it, you must adhere to security measures. Priming of the surface is carried out only with the use of personal protective equipment - rubber gloves. Do not enter into the respiratory and digestive organs, the skin.

AK 070 is flammable. Use near open flame sources is prohibited.

Store the primer in a tightly closed container, away from direct sunlight. Shelf life, guaranteed by the manufacturer, is six months.

The shelf life depends on the storage conditions. With reduced humidity and moderate climate with a temperature from minus 40 to plus 50 degrees, the shelf life is 5 years. At high humidity and temperature the primer AK 070 is stored for not more than 3 years.
