PP "Cedar": photo, device, TTX

In the seventies of the last century, the defense industry of the USSR began to develop and create small-sized automatic small arms. The general process was codenamed "Bouquet". Most of the models were supposed to occupy a niche between "Makarov" and AKSU used in the Interior Ministry units. The most practical project was the PP "Kedr", whose name occurs not only from the name of the tree, but also combines the initials of the main developer (the design of Evgeny Dragunov). Consider the characteristics and features of this weapon.

Production

Issue and improvement of the model in question were carried out at the Izhevsk Combine, which produced more than half of all domestic weapons. It should be noted that the pilot batches of the PP "Kedr" came out in only forty copies. The modification was tested, recognized and adopted. The Zlatoust mechanical plant was engaged in further serial production.

This model uses cartridges, typical for the Makarov pistol, with a caliber of 9 x 18 millimeters. The weapon is used in the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Federal Penitentiary Service, departmental security and other public services.

Features of operation

PP "Cedar" can fire single volleys or bursts of 2-3 charges. The average rate of fire is about 45 rounds per minute. A tilting metal butt can increase accuracy when it is placed in the shoulder.

The sighting sight is adjustable, it can aggregate with the dioptric and standard whole. This allows you to speed up and improve the guidance on the target. The automatic pistol is equipped with two types of clips, designed for 20 or 30 bullets. The gun is designed for a 50-meter range, the optimal figure is 25 m. It should be noted that the killing of the weapon makes it possible to hit the growth target at a control distance by one shot.

Device

PP "Cedar" (the drawing is difficult to find freely available) consists of a receiver, lid, targeting elements, handle and folding stock. The stuffing includes a return and shock-trigger system, as well as a trigger and an adjustable fuse. The weapon can be additionally equipped with devices of noiseless conducting of fire, flame arresters and silencers. Mount the data of the device allows an expansion chamber with a special mesh roll and a barrel adapted for various removable attachments.

The standard equipment of the gun consists of the gun itself, two shops, an adjusting key, a wiper, a knockout, a transport cover, a lubricator and a passport.

Auto mode

The function of firing a burst is based on the return of the free shutter. The case on the left has a handle that helps speed up recharging. The flasher type safety device is located above the trigger guard, designed for setting the mode of single or automatic shooting. To shoot from the "Cedar" PP, it is enough to select the desired mode, to withdraw and release the bolt, after which the weapon is ready for operation by pressing the trigger trigger. The fuse also allows you to prevent accidental operation of the mechanism.

In automatic mode, shooting from the weapon in question will be maintained until the trigger returns to its original position or the ammunition runs out. With a single fire, the trigger must be re-pressed after each charge is released. The basic equipment of the gun has two main configurations: the standard version and the version with an integrated muffler.

PP "Kedr": TTX

The main parts of the submachine gun we called, now as for the TTX. The weapon has the following characteristics:

  • Caliber and used cartridge - 9 mm / 9 x 18 PM;
  • Capacity of holder - 20/30 charges;
  • Weight of a pistol without bullets - 1.54 kg;
  • Length of the whole gun with an active butt / barrel length - 539/120 millimeters;
  • The maximum rate of fire - up to 850 rounds per minute at a standard rate of up to 100 starts;
  • The launch speed of the bullet is 310 meters per second;
  • The optimal distance of combat is 25 meters.

Service

Domestic PP "Cedar", the photo of which is presented below, requires appropriate care. Weapons can be disassembled partially (for lubrication and cleaning) or complete disassembly (in the case of heavy pollution or the need for repair).

When disassembling a weapon, you must follow certain rules, namely:

  • Carefully study the order of manipulation and features of the gun itself;
  • Process to perform on a table or clean bedding;
  • The parts must be laid neatly, not allowing them to fall and possible deformation;
  • The assembly is carried out according to the numbering of the elements in mirror order with respect to disassembly.

Incomplete disassembly is performed by separating the cage after pressing the latch and taking out the magazine. Then, the presence of charge in the chamber is checked, after which the butt is transferred to the fighting position.

The further process consists in removal of a cover of a receiver, branch of the return block, dismantling of a shutter by deducing it back and upwards. The final stage consists in disassembling the fuse (by turning clockwise) and separating the trigger mechanism.

Prevention

For a complete disassembly, the whole trigger mechanism, the bolt and the magazine niche must be removed. Device PP "Kedr" involves the implementation of regular preventive care. It includes lubrication and cleaning of weapons. Lubricating materials the device is processed 2-3 times a month. And cleaning is done after any kind of use (training firing, service use and the like). Lubricate only dry and pre-cleaned weapons.

The work is carried out in several stages:

  1. The required materials and tools are prepared.
  2. The weapon is dismantled.
  3. The trunk is being cleaned.
  4. The receiver, sights, handle and butt are cleaned.
  5. The trigger and impact mechanisms are processed, as well as a shutter with a return spring.
  6. Cleaning of stores is in progress.

Immediately after these procedures lubrication begins with the use of special weapons compositions. After assembly, the gun should be inspected and all mobile elements tested.

Advantages and disadvantages

TTK PP "Kedr" cause a number of advantages of this weapon over analogues. The advantages of the device include the following aspects:

  1. Light weight and compact dimensions, allowing to disguise weapons in wardrobe items.
  2. Equipping with a special gate delay, which allows you to signal the need to change the clip after the shop is empty.
  3. High accuracy and accuracy of fire when firing from the calculated distance.
  4. The unit can be equipped with a laser sight or tactical flashlight.

The considered submachine gun is ready for use for its intended purpose after the charge is sent to the chamber. The shutter handle is located to the left, and the convenient handle allows you to fire while holding the weapon in one hand. In addition, the gun is easy to maintain and operate, it has good balancing.

Among the minuses, a not very convenient butt attachment of the buttstock to the shooter's shoulder was noted, as well as a weak muzzle energy of 295 Joules. In this regard, sometimes the user can get burned on the trunk, since the latter does not have a protective casing. With a small magazine capacity, cartridges are expended rather quickly, especially in automatic shooting mode.
