Port Kolomna - we are engaged not only in cargo transportation

Kolomna is one of the most ancient cities in the Moscow region. The first mention of it dates back to 1177. Today it is a beautiful green city, located on the route Moscow-Ryazan. From Moscow to the city center is 100 km. In the Kolomna area, the Moscow River connects with the Oka, which in turn is one of the tributaries of the Volga.

Due to such a convenient location, in the middle of the XIX century the pier "Kolomna" appears. After almost 100 years, the government of the USSR renamed it into a port, to which the original name was left. A shipbuilding, a passenger compartment, a cargo jetty and even container terminals are being built. And although during the Soviet Union the city was closed to foreigners (it was considered a military one), the Kolomna port gave a powerful impetus to the development of the whole river fleet and navigation in the Moscow region.

History of the port

One of the milestones in the development of the port can be called the appearance of light passenger ships. In 1958, the first motor ship "Moscow" made a passenger flight Moscow - Kolomna. May 17 - the day of this transition - was the date of the birth of the port. In 1975, due to the rapid growth of traffic, the dock receives the status of a port. In January 1994, a decision was taken on the transformation, which resulted in the OJSC "Port Kolomna". There are several versions of the society. According to one source - this is the decision of the labor collective of the port, on others - the decision of the mayor. In any case, to date, Kolomna is a city whose port is recognized as the largest in the southeastern district of the Moscow region. It includes cargo sections on both rivers (Oka and the Moscow River), passenger transportation department, ship repair yard, and many other facilities both in coastal areas and in the city itself.

Kolomna - a strong port

If we talk about ships, in spite of the fact that the river fleet of Russia is going through hard times, there are more than 100 vessels of different purposes in Kolomna. These are tugs, floating cranes, hydro-loaders and self-propelled vessels, as well as river trams of the Moscow type.

The port is constantly upgrading its own floating crew, additional sections for ship repair and shipbuilding are put into operation. A large share of passenger transportation of the central basin of the Russian Federation is also owned by the JSC.

In addition to the transportation itself, Kolomna port is engaged in the production of non-metallic building materials, for example, sand or gravel. The city has a dry mix plant, also owned by the port.

Shipbuilding

One of the important structural units of the port is its own design bureau. On the basis of the shipbuilding facilities, ships are being developed that have already been interested in domestic customers. Among them you can call fishing trawlers. The enterprise has enough power to produce 10 such boats per year. The domestic trawler will be able to change the situation in the fishing sector, where the ships produced in China mainly work, and at the same time become a good source of financing for the port.

Not forgotten and development for their own needs. After long negotiations with the Germans, Liebherr (Germany), the port of Kolomna received a powerful floating crane with a carrying capacity of over 30 tons. Commissioning took place at the end of autumn 2014. The crane suspension is supplied by the Germans, the lower, the floating part - of its own production.

There are plans in the bureau and the development of these sea vessels. One of them, already ready for 95%, will have to walk from the Kerch Strait to St. Petersburg. On the assurances of the designers, the ship will be able to go to sea at waves exceeding one and a half meters. If this development justifies the hopes, serial production is possible, since the project was seriously interested in colleagues from other cities.

Conclusion

Despite the difficult situation with river transport in Russia, OJSC "Port Kolomna" is operating at full capacity. Not stopping only on the functions inherent in the usual river port, they work here and in other areas. Maybe this is the way to get out of the crisis?
