"Porsche 918" is the name of a hybrid supercar produced by a German world-famous automaker. "Porsche 918" exists in two versions. The first one is standard, and it is known as Spyder. There is also a second, with a longer name - Spyder Weissach Package. This is a lite version. Based on the names, you can understand that this model was built on the platform of a racing car, like the Porsche RS Spyder. Many people think that this car requires a lot of money in terms of maintenance and gasoline. But in reality it turns out to be untrue suspicions. Since this car spends a little more than three liters of fuel per 100 kilometers of its way. Although, in principle, it is absurd to assume that a person who decided to buy a car for almost 770 000 euros, will care how much this model of gasoline uses.

About the concept

"Porsche 918", a photo of which shows us a car with a chic design and interior, was conceived initially as a racing car. As a prototype, the manufacturers thought to take the well-known Porsche 911 GT3 R (hybrid) model. Strictly speaking, the concept of the planned novelty was tested on this car (within the framework of the race 24 hours). At the end of 2010, in December, the project conceived by the developers became the owner of the prize, given out as a trophy for protecting the environment. The German Motor Sport Union considered that this concept meets all environmental requirements, and this is now considered one of the main criteria by which it is determined how good the car is.

For the first time, Porsche 918 was introduced to the public at the Geneva Motor Show at the same time in 2010. Interestingly, the development of the concept did not take very long. Only five months. During this time the developers managed to develop their project from the first drafts to the present working copy.

So, this model is equipped with a powerful, 608-strong 4.6-liter V-engine with 8 cylinders. But this is not all that the machine can surprise. The total capacity is 887 "horses" at 8500 rpm. The engine is operated by a 7-speed gearbox (equipped with a double clutch). The car is endowed with an excellent brake system, consisting of carbon-ceramic discs.

Up to "hundreds" this German "beast" can be dispersed hardly more than for 2.5 seconds. Up to 200 km / h - for 7.3 seconds. And up to three hundred - in less than 21 seconds. Its maximum speed is 345 kilometers per hour. Looking at such characteristics, you can understand why it was originally planned as a racing sports car. Although many are confident: the plan was put into practice. After all, on an electric drive alone, a car can reach speeds of 150 kilometers per hour.

In 2012, a lot of applications were sent to manufacturers for the preliminary manufacturing of the model, but the company replied that the issue would be limited to only 918 copies. For such a machine, the concern gives four warranty years, seven years - for an electronic battery.
