Vladimir is a city that represents the administrative center of the Vladimir region. Territorially enters the Golden Ring of Russia, to Moscow - 176 km. Vladimir - the ancient capital of North-Eastern Russia. The settlement has been recognized as one of the main tourist centers of Russia.

Historical reference

The population of Vladimir in the XX century has changed many times. This is due to the fact that for a given period of time a huge number of armed conflicts have fallen, which were accompanied by enormous casualties of civilians. Statistics of the period of the First World War and the Civil War show that the number of residents has decreased by half: from 43 thousand to 23 thousand people.

During the restoration of the economy the population of Vladimir increased again to 40 thousand people. In the years of industrialization, when the economic and political situation in the country stabilized a little, the number of Vladimirians increased by one and a half times, reaching an important key mark of 100 thousand people.

The Great Patriotic War also affected the inhabitants of the city. The population of Vladimir was reduced by several thousand people, not counting those who were called to the war from the settlements of the Vladimir region. According to official documents, about a million inhabitants were called from the territory of Vladimir. Approximately 1/10 part is the inhabitants of the city.

In the 60 years of XX century, the population of Vladimir began to increase significantly. The natural profit was about 7-8 thousand people a year. In the 1980s, the increase was again reduced. The number of residents in 1989 reached the mark of 350 thousand people. In the years of perestroika and the collapse of the USSR, there has been a decline in the birth rate and an increase in mortality. The population of the city (Vladimir) fell by 10%.

Modernity

Speaking about the present stage, special attention should be paid to the XXI century. If in the zero years the number of civilians in the city was only 315 thousand people, then, according to the All-Russian Census, in 2010, more than 345,000 people lived on the territory of the administrative center of the Vladimir region.

According to official data on the website of the Russian Federal State Statistics Service, in 2014 350 087 thousand people lived on the territory of Vladimir. According to the latest data on the registration of Russian citizens, in 2015 the population of Vladimir increased by 2,594 people and amounted to 352 thousand 681 people.

Sex and age ratio of Vladimir

The number of residing Vladimir residents changed, and the sex-age ratio of citizens was transformed. The Great Patriotic War significantly affected the percentage of men and women. In 1979 there was a bias towards women (54.3%), while men in the territory of Vladimir were only 45.7%. This trend has not changed at the present stage of development. So, in 2010, the percentage of women reached 55%, and men - 45%.

However, it should be noted that such a skew is determined by the number of women of retirement age. In other words, the number of able-bodied men is 1.5 times more than girls. But the pensioners-men are only 27%, while the women - 73%.

Out of 352 thousand Vladimir citizens more than 60% are in working age. According to the data, up to the retirement age there are 225 thousand inhabitants of the administrative center. Speaking about the unemployed, it should be noted that unemployment in Vladimir is minimal (3658 people). The number of children and adolescents is 15 percent of the total number of residents, 25 percent are pensioners.

The main reasons for the increase in population

Unfortunately, the increase in the number of Vladimir residents has no connection with the improvement of the demographic situation in the region. In addition, it should be noted that mortality in the city exceeds the birth rate by almost 1.5 times. However, migration to the region has increased. Someone comes to Vladimir to study, and someone to work. This becomes the main determining factor in increasing the number of people in the city.
