Golyanovsky pond: rest in the city

Moscow is an amazing huge city, growing right before our eyes. Back in the sixties, on the site of the today's Golyanovsky Pond, there was a swamp and the Sosenka River flowed, and twenty years later the territory was refined, cleaned and presented to the townspeople with a new area with a magnificent pond and a well-maintained park. Let's talk about this unique corner of wildlife, so necessary for a huge metropolis, we learn about its origin and features.

A bit of history

Its name is Golyanovsky Pond due to the homonymous terrain on which it is located. The Golyanovo district is located in the east of present-day Moscow. The first mention of it dates from the sixties of the seventeenth century. It was a settlement of the palace village of Pokrovskoe, whose population numbered about 500 people, and peasant farmsteads numbered a little more than fifty. Golyanovo stretched on the hills in the upper Sosenka, in the waters of which there had long been a small fish-loach golian, which gave the name and terrain. Here, in the floodplain of the river, there was a vast swamp, transformed by a human genius into a pond.

The capital district of Golyanovo became in 1960, at the same time the territory was planned, the construction of residential houses and infrastructure facilities began. In the early eighties, the decision taken by the city authorities to improve the territory was completed: the riverbed was encased in pipes, the swamp was drained, and in its place a pond with fortified concrete bays was built. But today's neat and cozy view of the Golyanovsky Pond and the territory of the park around it were acquired after a large-scale reconstruction carried out in 2011.

Today's Day

This romantic corner of nature delivers an unforgettable pleasure to everyone who visited it: the discreet beauty of the Central Russian nature, the water surface of the pond and the opportunity to observe the life of the birds help relieve tension, soothe and give strength. All the coastal territory after the reconstruction has turned into a cozy green zone: the quay of the pond is restored, the smooth paths around the pond are laid with paving slab, children's and sports grounds are broken, convenient benches are installed, bicycle routes are equipped. A permanent care is provided behind the reservoir and the park zone.
