Polyester - what kind of fabric is this?

Polyester - what kind of fabric is this, firmly occupied the niche of leadership in the modern range of fabrics, threads and other sewing accessories?

On most clothing labels indicated, it's some overseas polyester, yet with a different percentage content.

Let's try to analyze and find out, polyester - what kind of fabric, how functional it is, good in application, good and convenient.

General characteristic of polyester fabric

So, Polyester - a material based on synthetic fibers, designed with the most comfortable wearing and quality practicality.

What is artificial fiber? We advise in any case not to be confused with synthetic ones. Both are created on the basis of chemical reactions and artificial compounds of molecules. However, it is artificial materials and fibers that form from natural raw materials of protein and vegetable origin. In other words, these are the same natural fabrics, but worked out artificially with the participation of chemical reactions.

Synthetic materials are created on the basis of non-natural, non-natural, and chemically extracted substances.

Unlike synthetic, such artificial materials as polyester have excellent air-permeating, "breathing" properties. In this case, from natural natural fabrics polyester is resistant to shrinkage, abrasion, stretching and many others.

Polyester: fabric composition

This type of fiber is often used in mixed fabrics, where, in addition to polyester, fibers such as cotton, elastane, lycra, polyamide, viscose, acrylic are added. These mixtures allow achieving various required goals.

In the case of clothes, these are mixtures with cotton, wool, linen or lycra, to achieve a breathable effect, with non-breaking, shrinkage, ease of washing and care, quick drying, flexibility and softness.

In the case of upholstery - these are various mixtures with polyamide and elastane to provide maximum fit patterns to the required surface, to achieve the required density and strength to abrasion and stretching.

In the case of home textiles, cotton, bamboo, poplin, polyamide, lycra, and elastane are often added to polyester. Here, in addition to wear-resistant qualities, high aesthetic values, shine, reflow, softness, silkiness, flowing effect are added.

Polyester - what kind of fabric, and what are its positive qualities?

Externally, this kind of material is similar to cotton or wool. Thus it is possible to achieve such desirable qualities of wear resistance and comfortable wearing with a conservative and sound external aesthetic manifestation.

Polyester fibers are as resistant to severe weathering as possible, and in this connection, polyester-based fabrics are used for sewing outerwear. Thermoplastic properties of this fabric allow you to create strong creases on trousers and pleated skirt.

Polyester - what kind of fabric is without flaws?

Disadvantages, however, are present, but insignificant. This is low hygroscopicity and the accumulation of static electricity. These qualities prevent the use of fabrics for the production of underwear and any clothing worn on the naked body, as well as hats.
