Historical background

The Karelian State Philharmonic (Petrozavodsk) was built in 1939. To be more precise, on January 15 of this year the Council of People's Commissars of the ASSR published a resolution on the opening of the Philharmonic. The main goal of the work was to rapidly raise the cultural awareness of the working people, to promote the best musical works of Russian and foreign classics, to popularize the music of the Soviet Union, to create works of Soviet writers and composers.

Composition

The philharmonic society included a symphony orchestra, the national national folk song and dance ensemble "Kantele", a state choir consisting of 42 people, and a vocal and variety ensemble. The grand opening of the first season took place on October 5 and 6, 1939. He was dedicated to Russian classical music. By 1940, more than 300 people were registered in the Karelian-Finnish State Philharmonic Society (it was renamed).

War time

As is known, the summer of 1941 was marked by the outbreak of war with Germany. At the same time, the war with Finland was resumed. Performers switched to a musical comedy, and the well-known and beloved ensemble "Kantele" was evacuated to the outback. Since 1953 the Department of Arts of the Karelian-Finnish SSR was in charge of the philharmonic society, and since 1956 - the Ministry of Culture of the Karelian ASSR.

The composition includes the quartet of Russian folk instruments Exprompt and two orchestras (symphony orchestra and orchestra of Russian folk instruments "Onego").

The Symphony Orchestra of the Karelian Philharmonic is considered to be one of the largest in the north-west of Russia. He began his activities in 1933 by decree of the Council of People's Commissars. For all time of existence the orchestra has replaced about 4 titles. Only in 1997 he officially joined the state philharmonic society. At different times, the conductors of the orchestra were K. Simeonov, V. Kataev, Yu. Aronovich, V. Chernushenko, A. Only in 1993 he joined the Karelian Philharmonic. From the day of creation of the collective to the present day, the conductor of the orchestra is the conductor G. Mironov - Honored Artist of Russia.
