It should be clarified that the breed has two varieties - naked and with short hair. As pets in the homes of the Indians lived a naked dog, and covered with wool was used for hunting. In its homeland, it is called "Peruvian naked dog." The Peruvian Inca orchid is its European name.

Intrigued in Peru, Spanish conquistadors drew attention to unusual animals, and this was a tragic event in the history of the breed. Attention Spaniards led to a huge loss of the number of these unique animals. Fortunately, over time, a wonderful dog - the Peruvian Inca orchid - recovered in numbers and was recognized as the first aboriginal dog of the American continent. It is interesting that the members of this breed have an incomplete set of teeth, but this in no way affects the health of the animal. Her closest relatives with wool do not suffer from a lack of teeth - they have a full set.

Another amazing feature of the breed is the susceptibility of the animal's skin to temperature changes. For example, in winter, the dog's skin becomes lighter, and in the summer it becomes pinkish.

The Peruvian Inca orchid, unlike most dogs, sweats not with the tongue, but with the body. As a person, then the entire body is covered with sweat. These unusual pets are nocturnal hunters. By the evening they are active, and at night they almost never sleep.

All "peruvians" are divided into three categories, which differ in their height and weight:

To a man, "Peruvian" is attached, but his feelings for him are rather restrained. It requires early socialization, which will avoid many problems associated with treating children and strangers.

This animal can be called the quietest dog in the world. She is friendly, patient and unruffled. "Peruvians" are kind, adore attention to themselves, the owner is greeted with a loud barking, thus expressing a great joy from the meeting.
