Painting Baroque as an Art

The Baroque style is one of the most interesting trends in the art of Europe of the 16th and 18th centuries, as well as Latin America.

The Baroque era is interesting for its contrast, dynamics, drama and at the same time - new ideas about the harmony, unity and diversity of the surrounding world.

This word from Portuguese translates as "ugly pearl". In translation from the Italian "Baroque" means "quaint, strange."

In addition, the term "baroque" is one of the types of scholastic reasoning. Therefore, this style was considered absurd and ugly, and everything that he portrayed was exaggerated and unnatural. The ancestor of it is Italy.

All kinds of art, such as architecture, music, poetry and baroque painting, were distinguished by the magnificence, brilliance, grandeur and solemnity of the creations, the spectacularity and deep sensuality of the depicted images, their idealization, a combination of reality and fantasy. Painting Baroque glorified the power of power and the church, the wealth and beauty of the nobility. The top of this style is the propaganda of absolute monarchy.

The most common themes in baroque (painting) were religious themes: the Madonna with soaring angels against the background of curly clouds, faces of saints, taken from religious plots and depicted in unusual poses.

New art, including painting (baroque), replaced the Italian renaissance. After all, the emergence of any trends in art is associated with certain historical events, and the new always arises as a result of the struggle with the old.

The goal of Baroque painting is to move away from everything sinful, earthly and to approach the unearthly, idealistic, sinless. It was believed that art and nature are true in different ways, each in its own way. The aim of art is to amaze and amaze. And for the sake of this it is worth embellishing the created images to evoke in people sublime feelings: amazement, surprise, delight and even euphoria.

In place of reason and asceticism comes sensuality, down to ecstasy, and luxury. It was during the development of the Baroque style that it became possible to combine different types of arts - spatial and temporal. For example, the synthesis of music with poetry led to the emergence of an opera. There were attempts to connect the sculpture with painting.

The brightest representatives of this trend in painting are: L. Bernini (Italy), P. Rubens (Flanders), Rembrandt (Holland), Charles Labren, Iasent Rigot (France), Velázquez, El Greco, Husepe Ribert (Spain).

In the 17th and 18th centuries, the Baroque style spreads rapidly in Latin America, (this is a magnificent and shocking "ultra baroque"), and then in the countries of Eastern Europe.

Later - in the early 18th century - it will be replaced by the Rococo style (France), and then classicism, which will subject Baroque painting to cruel criticism, calling the creations of this style fanciful and tasteless, down to ugliness, and the Baroque period - the time of decline, the disappearance of good taste And a sense of beauty.

For our time - indefinite, vague and hyperdynamic, in search of order and stability - Baroque painting is very close in spirit.
