The design of the cabin remained the same, but the car looks an order of magnitude more modern. So, the grille and the bumper have been refined. Cutout under the sleeping bag is now an integral metal part of the cabin. Depending on the modification, the MAZ-54329 was equipped with a spoiler, fog lights and fairing. As for the dimensions, the length of the tractor is 6 meters, width - 2.5 meters, and height - 3.65 meters.

The cabin described by MAZ is designed for two people - the driver and the passenger. At the back was a sleeping bag. Also truckers installed here and the second sleeping shelf. For those who traveled alone, she became a small closet, where you could put things.

By the way, in the car there are no glove boxes, except for the niche under the lower sleeping shelf. Also, the central console is essentially skimming the space - it is removed to accommodate the power unit under the cab. On the passenger side, too, there is no glove box. By modern standards, the design of all devices is quite ascetic. The only useful thing is the steering wheel leaning against the windshield. This allows you to climb into the cabin without problems.

The seats in the standard MAZ are not designed for long distances. And in view of the lack of lumbar and lateral support, the drivers strongly swollen back. The only way out was the installation of other seats, with foreign cars (for example, with "Scania" or "Volvo"). Also in the cockpit there was no air conditioning, although there was a mechanical hatch. But it is not enough to ensure normal ventilation in the cabin.

Another feature of MAZ-54329 cars is the lack of a high cabin in modifications. In the future Belarusians released MAZ-5440, which turned out to be much more comfortable.

The car was equipped with a diesel engine from the Yaroslavl Motor Plant. This V-shaped "eight" with a working volume of 14.8 liters. The unit was not equipped with a turbocharger. Therefore, with this volume had only 240 horsepower capacity.

But even this indicator was enough for Soviet truckers. MAZ on all indicators bypassed the then KrAZ and KamAZ.

In addition to MAZ-54329-020, there was its 400-strong modification. This power was achieved thanks to the installation of a turbocharger. And as the engine was used all the same YMZ. But the most common version is 543205. This MAZ with the engine from the Yaroslavl Motor Plant had already 330 horsepower capacity. Experts' comments emphasize that this unit was characterized by high thrust and torque. The fuel consumption was not much different from the atmospheric 240-strong version of the truck.

Transmission, consumption

The fact is that each transmission had its own "half" (elevated and lowered series of steps). As a result, 8 transmission speeds were obtained. In terms of fuel consumption, MAZ was the most economical Soviet tractor.

For a hundred kilometers, the car spends between 29 and 32 liters of fuel. The machine was equipped with a fuel tank for 350 liters. It was also possible to install an additional tank, which allowed to increase the total volume to 500 liters. As a result, the power reserve of the tractor was increased from 1,100 to 1,600 kilometers. The maximum speed of the car is 85 kilometers per hour. Although the 400-strong versions of the drivers easily dispersed and 120. Of course, this is not quite a comfortable and safe mode of movement, but the power reserve of the truck was decent.
