Overman Zilya: biography

Over the shoulders of an adventurous and famous man, as a rule, is a beautiful and wise woman. She not only shares his family life with him, being a reliable support and like-minded person, but also his glory. Thus, at the beginning of the last century, news spread across Russia about the king of Odessa thieves, Misha Yaponchik. And his favorite woman and muse was Tsilya Overman.

Her vague biography and mysterious disappearance became a reason for the doubts and disputes of historians. But the short-lived sparkling novel and the family life of the Odessa raider and intelligent girl were still reflected in art, and the unchanging fame of Japonchik forever left a mark on Overman's name.

Biography

Tsilya Overman (according to another version, Averman) was born in Odessa, in a Jewish aristocratic family. The exact date of birth and death of her is not indicated in any source. But under the assumptions of the researchers, this was the period of 1890-1970-ies. Tsily had a younger sister, Sophia. Her fate is known only in a close family circle. It is only known that she did not manage to survive the Great Patriotic War.

Tsilya received a good education, she possessed intelligent manners. The beginning of the new century was marked by a difficult economic situation in Russia, so about 20 years old aristocrat Overman Tsilya went to work at the factory "Jaco", engaged in the production of vaccines.

Personal life

In Odessa, there would hardly have been a man who would have bragged about a close acquaintance with a Jewish beauty named Overman Tsilya. Her personal life is not rich in hot love stories. On the contrary, the girl was very educated and modest, moderately witty and sharp. Some guys were even afraid to approach her. But not a young and enterprising raider. Moischa-Yakov Vinnytsky (or Mishka Yaponchik) and Tsilya Overman met at the dawn of his bandit glory, in line for water. For Odessa, the problem of water always stood in the first place. Towards the columns lined up huge lines, in one of which fate brought together a young stocky hooligan and a big-eyed tall girl. Initially, Tsilya ignored and even refused attentions of Misha Yaponchik. But his assertiveness and patience still broke the temper and melted the severity of the beauty. And in 1918 (according to other sources, in 1917) the news spread over Odessa: Tsilya Overman - wife of Mishka Yaponchik.

Wedding

The wedding of Yaponchik and Tsili took place in all Jewish traditions. The walk was the most magnificent and loud event in Odessa of that time. Hundreds of guests were invited and accommodated in the Dvořáres dance classes. The wedding was celebrated for several days. Danced indoors and outdoors. All Odessa rumbled, of course, this could not but draw attention from the authorities. But this is also foreseen by the criminal fiancé. To prevent the event from being spoiled and broken by the police chiefs (then on the slang of the "dragon" thieves), the Japanke gang set fire to the police station. This was done with other intentions - to burn the criminal cases of friends and the king of thieves.

Child

Tsilya was a wise wife and condescending attitude to the affairs of her husband. Soon the young couple had a daughter. It was called Ada (Adele). According to metric data, its name is written as Udaya Moishe-Yakovlevna Vinnitskaya (August 18, 1918). But the happiness in the "royal" family did not last long. In 1919, Mishka Yaponchik got involved in the revolutionary struggle. But his gang quickly lost people, which gave rise to a lot of rumors and condemnations in his address. When trying to save the remaining people, he was shot without a trial by a military district commissioner. And his whole family was now under the supervision of the authorities and the Odessa bandits themselves.

Escape

Cile threatened arrest or even death. And she had a little daughter in her arms. Therefore, she simply could not risk and stay in Odessa. In 1921, Tsilya Overman (her biography is now sketchy and based on memories and rumors), accompanied by a relative (Zhenya Vinnitsky) fled abroad. Later they said that she married him.

First, Tsilyu was sheltered by hot India. In the family archive preserved her photo from Bombay in an Indian outfit, which she herself sent to her little daughter. Then up to the Odessa relatives news came that Tsilya lives in France. She is well-off, owns a small factory and several houses. Probably, in this she was helped by the means and values in Western banks, left by her deceased husband and natural business acumen.

Trying to bring Hell back

The only pain for Tsili was now the separation from her daughter Ada. Dora's mother-in-law (or Doba) did not give her to her own mother, leaving her in Odessa. Until 1927 (until the border was closed), she actively tried to return her daughter. Tsilya sent fake people who tried in every possible way to persuade mother-in-law to give the girl to her mother, even to steal or redeem her. But the Japanese's mother was adamant. And all further attempts to return the child were unsuccessful.

As a child Adele maintained contact with her aunt on the mother's side - Sophia Overman and her daughter. This is evidenced by family photos. In wartime, he and his grandmother had to be evacuated to Azerbaijan (Baku). But even after that, the location of the child for a desperate mother was not lost. Tsilya wrote letters until the 60s and 70s, helped with money transfers and parcels, but she did not see her daughter any more.

What prevented it from doing so when Adel grew older is unknown. Why has Tsilya Overman, the wife of Mishka Yaponchik , not returned to Odessa in her free time ? Her biography of this is silent. Perhaps, the political situation, long persecutions of native Japonchik, wartime, psychological barrier or other reasons - this remains a mystery for historians. But according to the memories of relatives, Adele never forgave grandmother Dora and all Odessa relatives for separation from her mother. After the war, she never returned to her native Odessa, taking her family in Baku.

Grandchildren

A long time about the descendants of Mishka Japonchik was not known. Only recently it turned out that Tsily and the legendary Odessa raider have grandsons - Rada, Lilya and Igor. They live in Israel. The followers of the well-known Jewish family know about the history of their grandfather and grandmother. Since that time, their parents have gone through a difficult journey, having suffered many privations. The light was also shed on the fate of Adele, the daughter of Tsily and Japonchik. As it turned out, she was in prison for speculation. In a hungry war time, the young girl was left alone with her son Mikhail (named after her grandfather) in her arms, had to survive by selling oil in the market in Ganja.

Memories

According to the memoirs of the Odessa relatives, Overman Tsilya was a tall, slender girl, very polite and well-mannered. She had good taste in clothes. Before marriage, despite the economic complexity of the time, she looked elegant and reserved. This was transmitted not only in a clear selection of style and elements of clothing, but also in her aristocratic manner, straight posture and a slightly arrogant look. She spoke little, aptly and famous Odessa speech.

Moved around the city of Tsilya only on a cab, than she showed her high status. Such a proud and impregnable young lady simply could not help falling in love with the king of thieves. As recalled by Odessa relatives, Tsilya positively influenced Mishka Japonchik, tried to pacify his hooliganism, to insinuate and wrap her in a quiet, family life. But, apparently, the tense political situation in Russia and previous habits prevented this.

Tsilya Overman, the wife of Mishka Yaponchik, is positively recollected by heirs. And they never condemned her for parting with Adele, on the contrary, they considered it to be a compulsory measure.

Family traditions

The memory of the legendary great-grandfather is passed on from generation to generation. The descendants of Yaponchik keep family photos, some of his things. The fame of him is still not cooled in Odessa. The famous house in Moldavanka, where the legendary "King" was once born and grew up, still stands in the city and keeps the memory of its former owner. The third family generation visited him already.

At the birth line of Vinnytsia there is a tradition, after a generation, to call boys in honor of the legendary great-grandfather, and girls in honor of his daughter - named Adel. Surprisingly, Ciley has not yet been named any heiress of the family.

Was Tsilya really?

There is a version that the persona of Overman Tsilya is fictitious. This is indicated primarily by the scarcity of biographical data, a lot of white spots, questions and inaccuracies. This idea slips in the documentary "In Search of Truth. Mishka Yaponchik. Death of the King. " It was filmed in 2008 and was based on documentary evidence and evidence gathered about the life of the Odessa Robin Hood. So, the name of Tsili Overman did not sound there. Moreover, some researchers believe that its image is exceptionally literary, it is designed to give a type of Odessa hijacker a halo of romance. Once Mishka Yaponchik was a frequent visitor to Odessa brothels, the consequence of this was a venereal disease. And this is an established fact. But after all the girl of easy or light; mild behavior to the charismatic hooligan will not assign. A legendary hero needs an equally legendary companion. Therefore, according to skeptics, the aristocrat Overman Tsilya was invented - wife and only love. However, the descendants of Japonchik still insist on the official version. And where and whose truth, now it is unlikely to become known.

In art

The image and activities of Jisha Bears and his love story with Tsilei Overman have become a source of inspiration for the creation of many literary and cinematographic works. So, in 2011, the screens appeared Russian crime series "The Life and Adventures of Mishka Japonchik", based on "Odessa stories" by Isaak Babel. The writer was a contemporary and familiar to the raider, so he was aware of the main vicissitudes of the hero's life. The film is full of bright, eccentric images, characteristic Odessa dialect, jokes and speech turns. Many of them, for example, "chic look", "shut up your mouth" and others, entered into the living everyday life of contemporaries.

The TV series mainly tells of the touching and romantic love story of a gangster and a beautiful aristocrat. The authors did not pursue an exact correspondence to real events, their task was to convey the characters of the main characters. And yet critics point to a number of factual inaccuracies. For example, the father of Tsiley Overman was never associated with commerce. And in the television series the opposite situation is shown. Although, again, it is impossible to confirm this precisely because there is no documentary evidence.

The main role - Mishka Yaponchik - was played by Yevgeny Tkachuk. Elena Shamova appeared as a charming Tsilya Overman. The actress, according to critics, has created a magnificent psychological character of Japonchik's wife. Although the heroine Tsilyu in the series is more correctly defined as a collective image that reflects the mentality of representatives of the intelligentsia of that era.

PS

Today the personality of Ciley Overman is one of the most mysterious. After the 1970s, the connection with it was finally broken. Perhaps it meant the end of her life. Whether she was a literary fiction or a real person, will forever remain a family secret of Vinnytsia. However, the evidence in favor of its real existence is much more weighty and convincing than contradictions and doubts. One thing is clear: behind the shoulders of the legendary Odessa "Robin Hood" was a certain Tsilya Overman. The photo with its image and a personal signature is still stored in the family archive, preserving the bright memory of Mishka Yaponchik. She is the mother of his only daughter and heirs of the famous Odessa family. And although the name of Tsily is shrouded in questions and secrets, she is forever inscribed in history as a wise and enterprising woman - the first and only wife of the king of thieves.
