Optical-mechanical plant "Jupiter", the city of Valdai: history, production, products

Optical-mechanical plant "Jupiter" belongs to a class of large manufacturers of optical products: night vision devices, observation devices, optical-electronic systems of sighting. The pride of the enterprise is the sight-observing day and night complex for the Rocket "Rocket".

The Soviet era

The plant "Jupiter" was designed as a special enterprise for manufacturing photographic objectives "Helios" for SLR cameras "Zenith" with an annual design capacity of 1.2 million lenses. The place of construction is the picturesque Valdai Region.

The date of foundation of the plant is November 15, 1967. Initially, the facilities were located in the reconstructed agricultural technical school in the city of Valdai (Novgorod region). In 1969, the construction of the main buildings began. The first products were GK-44-2 lenses.

In the 1970s, intensive development of production was carried out, housing was built for workers. The assortment of lenses included four families: "Cyclops", "Helios", "Mir", "Jupiter". By 1992, the Jupiter plant had become a large industrial enterprise with more than 2,700 employees.

In market conditions

In 1999, the plant was purchased by the holding company "Lank". In the same year, the development of night vision devices began with the efforts of its own design bureau. In 1999 and 2000 the enterprise was reconstructed, production was prepared for a large-scale production of the products being developed.

In 2001, thanks to a strategic partnership with an American company engaged in product promotion, the Jupiter plant took the leading position in the world market for the supply of night vision devices. In 2006, the output of products reached 76,000 units per year. 100% of the products were exported (mainly the USA, Japan, European countries).

Automotive in the period from 2006 to 2009. Since the end of 2007, due to changes in the external market environment and the appreciation of the ruble, the plant began reorienting production to produce domestic products: power departments, the Ministry for Emergencies, and the Ministry of Defense. In 2008-2010, a line of modern optical instruments was developed, successfully tested and prepared for industrial production, which exceeds in its parameters not only domestic, but also a number of foreign analogues.

Characteristic

The territory of the Jupiter plant is 15.8 hectares. The total area of buildings exceeds 56,100 m ² , of which the production area is 31385 m ² . The machine park has 1100 pieces of equipment.

Today the plant remains among the flagships of the optical industry. Although the volume of production relative to the Soviet period decreased, the quality of the products being developed remained consistently high. Production

The team won the competition in 2015 and received an important defense order for the development and delivery of a multifunctional sight-observation complex for Rocket "Rocket". It allows you to track and carry out the aiming in any temporary and weather conditions, in a wide range of temperatures, with reduced visibility.

Another unique product is the technological holographic sights of the Valdai series. For their production, it was necessary to master new technical processes for manufacturing diffraction and hologram relief-phase elements for Russia.

Prospects

In the past, the plant was the largest manufacturer of "Helios" lenses for Zenit cameras. It was mastered the production of turnstiles for metro stations and railways, payment terminals. There is experience in delivering products to the leading auto parts manufacturer TRW (up to 600,000 parts per month). In particular, the components of the reversible thrust.

In the near future, the main activity of OMZ "Jupiter" remains the production of a day-night sighting complex (DNPK), developed by the plant and successfully tested optical-electronic reconnaissance and sighting equipment. The plant will also focus on the production of collimator sights of the Krechet series, the sales proceeds of which are planned to be about 50% of the company's total revenue. Monoculars series "Lun" will provide 30% of the total revenue of the plant. The rest of the products will be various accessories for the DNPK complex, night vision devices and other products.
