Opel Astra Turbo - turbo-ecologized youth hatchback with a sporty appearance

In the Russian line of cars offered for sale by Opel, Astra is the only model with three distinct varieties: "just" Astra, Astra Family and Astra GTS. Why such a variety of asters? For the appearance of the term Astra should be "to thank" the British division of the concern General Motors, called Vauxhall Motors. In Vaxhall began to produce and sell to the British since 1979, the right-hand drive Opel Cadet called Vaxhall Astra. Subsequently, namely in 1991, and Opel himself renamed the next generation of Cadet cars to Astra, although the letter indices of the "Cadet" generations got to Astra without changes, though - with the omissions of some letters.

The current, until the last generation of the Astra, since the beginning of the release in 2009, assigned index J (J). The previous generation was produced under the Hich index (H) since 2004, and those who know it well externally and internally will easily find out that the new Astra Family is the former Opel Astra in the Sedan, Universal and Hatchback bodies. Moreover, in the Ukrainian line of Opel models they are called Astra Classic. What is the difference between the new generation of Asters? Yes, almost everyone: a new body, another suspension, gearboxes and a new line of motors. Apparently, for the presence of turbocharged engines in the entire lineup of the new Astra, it is often called the Astra Turbo.

Motors with a turbo-supercharging were present at former Astra when it were tuned and aspired to give sports character. The current turbulence is rather the optimization of small engines to give them sufficient power while observing strict environmental standards and no less stringent requirements for fuel economy. It is significant that the 1.4-liter turbocharged engine of the Astra Turbo has the same power of 140 hp as the 1.8-liter atmospheric engine of the Astra Family. The dynamic characteristics of the Opel Astra Turbo are higher, especially in the initial speed range, but with speed dialing they are aligned with the "parent" model of the same power.

As for the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 180 hp, such an Opel Astra Turbo configuration makes it possible to "ignite an adult" with "child" fuel costs. This despite the fact that the Opel Astra Turbo chassis built similarly, for example, to the Chevrolet Cruiser, works much more clearly and comprehensively. The rear semi-independent suspension is built on the Watt mechanism, combined with a customizable front suspension type McPherson. To control suspension modes, a system of continuous damper damping is used. Together with a customizable electric power steering, it allows you to tune the Opel Astra Turbo suspension to three modes: Tour, Normal and Sport. "Tourist" setting makes the suspension softly enveloping even large road irregularities, this setting is indispensable for bypasses, in industrial zones and on other damaged sections of roads. "Normal" setting is good in the city, and for the track is intended "Sport", signaling its inclusion in the red illumination of the instrument panel. "Sport" not only makes the suspension rigid and holding from the side rolls in bends, but also changes the reaction of the car to the gas pedal.

Opel Astra Turbo 2012 - a dynamic and elegant car for modern guys and girls who love speed, comfort and low fuel costs.
