Everyone knows about the difficult fate of the city of Leningrad and the blockade during the Great Patriotic War. Years go by and all the horrors of that terrible time in the history of the country are gradually forgotten, as well as the exploits of the soldiers of our army. You can refresh memories of the war and learn something new for yourself by visiting the Museum of the Siege of Leningrad. In modern St. Petersburg, there are two full-fledged exposition works devoted entirely to the life of the city during the Great Patriotic War.
Museum of the Defense and Blockade of Leningrad in Solyany Lane
In 1944, the first exposition was opened, dedicated to the life of the city residents during the days of military operations. Noteworthy is the fact that the Museum of the Siege of Leningrad was created in such a difficult time - on this basis it is the only one in our entire country. In his collection you can see the exhibits devoted to the days of war, the work of the inhabitants in the factories, as well as things related to the dear life and the everyday life of the defenders of the city. All these scripts are real tools of servicemen, uniforms and personal belongings of soldiers. The Museum of Defense and the Siege of Leningrad has in its collection also heavy artillery pieces, and also demonstrates some types of aircraft and tanks. This exposition immediately fell in love with the inhabitants of the Northern capital, but despite this fact, it is closed in 1949 for an official investigation. Many exhibits were seized or purposefully destroyed. The museum was again able to open its doors to visitors only in 1989. Today his collection is again steadily replenished. Some things are brought by veterans and their relatives, sometimes some archaeological finds come here.
Diorama dedicated to the breakthrough of the siege of Leningrad
In the 1970s, work began on the creation of a memorial complex dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, in the Kirov region (Leningrad region). In 1985, the museum-diorama was opened here, today the general name of the complex is "Breakthrough of the Siege of Leningrad", it includes well-known memorials "Sinyavsky Heights" and "Nevsky Piglet", as well as a number of other monuments. The art canvas diorama has a size of 40 by 8 meters. It was created with the participation of several respected military consultants. This exhibit clearly demonstrates the main events of the Iskra operation, which lasted 7 days in January 1943. The Museum "Breakthrough of the Siege of Leningrad" also has a collection of military equipment located in the open air. One of the most interesting exhibits is the KV-1 tank, which took part in battles and was raised from the bottom of the Neva.
