The monument to Alexander 1 in the Alexander Garden turned out to be classically majestic and pompous. He looks impressive and worthy. The emperor is depicted in a dress uniform. In his hands a sword, and his foot tramples a bunch of arms of surrendered French soldiers. On the shoulders of the monarch thrown cloak.

The figure of the emperor is cast from bronze. It is installed on a high pedestal decorated with a double-headed eagle - a symbol of the statehood of Russia. On both sides the pedestal is decorated with bas-reliefs. One depicts the entry of Russian troops led by the emperor sitting on the horse in Paris in 1814. On the opposite side, another bas-relief, reminiscent of the Battle of the Peoples near Leipzig in October 1813.

Across the road from the monument there are additional bas-reliefs that complete the composition, telling about the past battles and important events of two hundred years ago. So, here you can see the captured pictures of the two crucial battles of this war - the Battle of Berezina and the Battle of Borodino. Here you can see bas-reliefs depicting the heroes of those battles - Kutuzov, Barclay de Tolly, Denis Davydov, and Bagration. Also here you can see the image of Alexander and Seraphim of Sarov. And the mock-ups of the two magnificent churches that have become the main churches of Russia: the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the idea of the erection of which was put forth by this monarch, and also the Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg, which also became a monument to the valor of Russian soldiers in the war with Napoleon.

Author of the project

Monument to Alexander 1 in the Alexander Garden, the description of which is given above, is the brainchild of the famous sculptor Shcherbakov. By the way, another statue belonging to the same author is quite near. The Moscow government announced a competition for the erection of the monument. It was attended by eight eminent sculptors who presented several of their projects. By closed voting, the work was selected, the author of which was Salavat Aleksandrovich Shcherbakov.

By the way, Alexander the First in Moscow wanted to perpetuate three times already. But every time the erection of the monument was postponed for various reasons. Emperor-winner

Alexander 1 went down in history as an extraordinary person. In his reign, the nation rallied in the struggle against the invaders. The territory of Russia has expanded considerably: Finland and other lands were annexed to it.

This is the time of renewal of Russia, when a lot of reforms were carried out both in the legal and state spheres. The first round-the-world expedition was equipped, five universities were opened. With him was opened the first Kremlin museum - the Armory Chamber.

He gave the constitution to neighboring Poland and granted freedom to serfs in the Baltics, but left his own under the yoke. It was he who was at the forefront of international security in Europe, which was progressive for that time. The emperor built relations with the leaders of other powers, taking into account not only state interests, but also moral values.

Of course, the personality of this man is quite contradictory, and he allowed a lot of mistakes and misses, but his contribution to the historical path of Russia is difficult to overestimate.
