Cultivation of citrus fruits at home brings not only pleasure, but also some benefit, they have tasty and beautiful fruits, one of such plants is mandarin room. Many lovers undeservedly prefer only one representative of citrus - lemon, although there are many other equally interesting plants of this species.

For cultivation of lemons in the room conditions new varieties were brought out, and if you decide to grow a mandarin room or, for example, grapefruit, then you will have to use industrial varieties. Lemons grown in room conditions have a pale coloring and are very acidic, whereas such a houseplant as a mandarin has bright and sweet fruits. One of the drawbacks of growing mandarins in apartments is the necessity of having a large room, since they are rather tall.

Usually citrus fruits are grown from seeds, and then seedlings are planted, for this purpose cuttings are taken from the tree, which already fructifies.

As it was said before, there is no such sort as mandarin room, for their cultivation use ordinary industrial varieties. If you did the right inoculation and trimmed the tree, it will bear fruit for the fourth year, and sometimes even earlier. Cuttings of lemon can be safely rooted, and cuttings of other citrus fruits take root badly and need only to be planted.

If you do not have the skills of planting plants, but you still want to grow citrus trees at home, then the best option is the mandarin room. It is he who one of all citrus fruits begins to bloom already in the third year, while unlike others it is much smaller.

Room mandarin is the care and shaping of the crown.

The formation of mandarin crowns must be approached responsibly. At once we shall tell, that it is not necessary to be afraid to conduct a circumcision and to regret a tree. It is necessary to clearly know what you want to achieve by this operation.

You need to know certain information, for example, to know that the fruits of mandarin are formed on branches of the fourth order and until they appear, there will be no fruitage. Carrying out the correct pruning, you can significantly shorten the time before the beginning of fruiting. You need to trim the branches on which the fourth leaflet appeared. It is quite possible to create the right crown in two years, with the necessary illumination, thanks to the optimally selected soil composition, timely top dressing.

Citrus like a moderate watering, they do not tolerate drying, and also waterlogging of the soil. In warm weather, it is necessary to spray the tree, if the air is over-dried, then the plant is more susceptible to attack by mites and scabs.

Indoor Mandarin plant is very fond of light, and also warm and needs a temperature of at least 17 ° C to begin flowering. In winter, it is best to place the plant in a room where the temperature will be about 12 ° C, otherwise you risk not getting fruits in the warm season.

While the tree is young, it must be transplanted annually, after the beginning of fruiting it can be done every three years. During flowering and fruiting, it is better not to perform such a procedure.

When growing mandarins, there may be some problems and the most common are:

- yellowing and falling leaves, no flowering and no fruit, all this indicates insufficient nutrition of the plant and it must be transplanted;

- the appearance of specks on the leaves and their falloff indicates a waterlogging of the soil, which can also be manifested with untimely irrigation;

- the appearance of dry leaves that wrinkle, can indicate both burns and pests.

The fruits of this plant are not only delicious, but also dietary, and there is essential oil in the peel. Infusions of the peel help with coughing, as they have expectorant qualities.
